As someone who doesn't make these or play please forgive the stupid question, I like coming onto this thread to see the amazing modelling and painting that you guys do, so bare with me.
On the models there appear to be "craters" or indents in the armour of the characters, if these are meant to be damage from bullets or shrapnel etc, does anyone paint the inside of the dents silver to show that it's been damaged? As that's what it looks like it needs? Or is the armour supposed to be the same colour all the way through due to what's it's thought to me made of?
As said, apologies for what is probably a very stupid question and as said, the skill on this is amazing and way beyond anything I could achieve, just an observation.
I guess it depends on the model and the painter. On the models there appear to be "craters" or indents in the armour of the characters, if these are meant to be damage from bullets or shrapnel etc, does anyone paint the inside of the dents silver to show that it's been damaged? A lot of the armour is supposed to be made out of "ceramite", which is a completely fictional substance and I think it's implied is a metal compound rather than an alloy, so essentially you can paint it either as silver or colour matched, or weathered silver.
Obviously it also takes longer to add "proper" definition to dents and scratches and some people don't like the battle damaged look, so a lot of people don't paint them.
On the other hand some people add damage where there was none on the original model!

Been having a play with micro LEDs today. Not sure how I'm going to route the wires yet but have bought some conductive paint as well... 3D printed the replacement plasma coil section in clear. Model is WIP. Note to self - do this before next one is built and mostly painted
Was going to suggest conductive paint, Greenstuff do some that you can undercoat over. But that is very cool saves having to learn glows and object source lighting techniques
They look really good!

The new tesseract glow paint is fantastic.
I bought some at the weekend after seeing someone use it on YouTube. Bought as an experiment as I’ve a few plasma coils to paint up and can’t seem to generate a glow effect (fail every time). I’d definitely say it’s a one layer paint much like a contrast paint. Where I did 2, it looks horrible.Very nice Skorpekh Lord!!! I’m working my way through ten warriors ‘speed painting’ (relative term, still slow but three times quicker than normal). The models are great and so easy to assemble and clean.
I’ve gone for the red face dynasty (name escapes me) and they are very much rusty and battered.

Having an Anycubic Photon resin printer opens up the possibilities somewhat. The Sword arm and Shield are from James Taro (Taromodelmaker) but the shoulder pads and everything below the waist is 3D printed.
I shall call him 'Binky'
With some of the houshold...
Finally an experiment with UV powder and clear coat...

Here’s 25ish PL of necrons from Indomitus. Now I’m a super slow painter and I’m pleased as managed to get these speed painted ‘battle ready’ in four weeks. For reference, that’s about the same time it takes me to paint a single death guard character posted previous page.
Amazing models and loads of fun. I learnt a lot including batch painting, sponge battle damage and the glowy blades. Can’t wait to play a game with them now!
Sorry about the pics I don’t know what I’ve done to my phone settings but they have come out bright.

These models are amazing, and puts my one Space Marine painted in year to shame. Am stepping up my game though, have now actually undercoated my Aggressors from Conquest, ready to be "wolfed".
I saw an ad (oh dear) on Facebook about an online store that charges a £9.99 subscription with 30% discount on Games Workshop stuff. It seemed a bit dubious to me, but I cannot find anything about it online at all. Has anyone else seen this?
Edit - I don't remember the name of the store, I just read a few comments and then moved on, but was talking about it with a friend today.

And I found it, apparently there is a thing in Facebook so you can see which ads you have clicked on. TERRIFYING.
The Loot Room - https://thelootroom.com/ Somewhat unconvinced, but interested if anyone else has come across this? I normally buy from Wayland.

I've seen that site before, but didn't look much further after I found out they don't offer free shipping. The Loot Room - https://thelootroom.com/ Somewhat unconvinced, but interested if anyone else has come across this? I normally buy from Wayland.
Wayland does over £50 and also offers 15% to 20% off with no monthly commitment, so for me even if it's a legit 30% off, the numbers still don't work.
And some awesome looking models there, guys!
I've been trying to use contrast as much as possible recently as I don't have much free time to paint.
Pretty happy with some of the results (although there have been some not so great results too)!
My Ragnar above was painted in about 4 hours total. Normal paints would take me weeks to get to the same level.

Very impressive detailing from all of you!
I only ever got as far as spray painting a load of Ultramarines blue and adding some gold paint. Don't have the hand nor patience.
You'd be amazed what some quick and easy techniques can accomplish - try sticking a coat of nuln oil over the blue and agrax earthshade over the gold - will really add depth to your paint job very quickly and easily. Monsterlime, proceed with caution and don’t buy any... else you’ll end up like me and have an enormous pile of plastic shame
Example of how I think - new necron warriors are £29 for preorder. The recruit starter set is £32.50 and has the exact same models plus a royal warden, lieutenant and some intercessors. The starter set is such a bargain I better buy four just in case they sell out!
I’ve already got Indomitus and command edition by the way, which will take 1.5 years to paint at current progress... plastic crack, I tell ya!

Question for the players amongst us, what are the rules about playing kit bashed pieces?
I’ve got 3 Agressors that I was thinking about altering in to something more Nurgleish as a bit of fun and to look on the shelf, amongst the ever growing collection!
As long as it's clear what they're representing, then typically zero issue. I’ve got 3 Agressors that I was thinking about altering in to something more Nurgleish as a bit of fun and to look on the shelf, amongst the ever growing collection!
So, I'd suggest thinking of them as being obliterators in a chaos space marine army.
