I did three colour blends on power weapons nest through an airbrush:
It seems there are a few whites. There's one that I have seen is properly opaque and great at pre-highlighting, or base coating.
That wasn't the one I bought...
Ink have pigment codes on the label. I don't understand them, but they tell those that do how opaque and what exact pigment is in there.

I realise I promised photos of my Heldrake sooner but I just didn't get around to finishing as I had a few extra thoughts on how to finish the base. I do solomly promise now to get the desktop studio out and the SLR charged.
In the mean time, I'll leave this here as a teaser.
I think its taken about 6 months start to finish, but only about 2 weeks of build and paint time, and yes, its not on the standard perspex stand. That was one of the ideas I had, I was never happy about using it, so had to think of a way of hiding the rod to hold it up, and from most angles I think I've done it

The boy has been working on the Skitarii Rangers for what seems like years, but he's making progress. He bought a Tech-Priest Enginseer (cost almost as much as the set of 10!), and, using the wet palette) he's made a decent job of it. Though I'd take some pictures of his progress so far:
He's wanting to play Warhammer as a wargame, and is making his own rules up, which sometimes work, sometimes don't!- are there any simplified rules out there? Thanks.

Celtic - that looks bloody brilliant!
Doc - there's kill team, which is a skirmish sized game he'd have no problems picking up. He's already got a decent team. That's one thing I like about it - you can try out loads of different armies as most are a unit box or two. There's also a new starter set just released with two teams (tau and space wolves), loads of really nice industrial terrain, and the full ruleset/tokens, etc.
Full 40k is a little tricky. It doesn't really work imo for small armies, for me it needs 1500pts which is a much bigger force. However, plenty (including my daughter at her school club) start at say 250pts (about what he has there) then "escalate" in step with each other as their forces grow.

Thanks gents and her eare the real shots. I've spent the day without water so took the opportunity to make a makeshift desktop studio, with the realization my new painting lights, aren't going to be up tot he job if I start models larger than this one!!
If you have any questions I'll be happy to answe them. I wouldn't reccomend the technique I used for the stone slabs!!!
I did go a little mad and havn't put them all up, but you can see them all in the below link

Looks utterly superb chap. Is that the bit of building I sent you? Fits great.
Go on then, how did you do the stone slabs...?
It is and you've just reminded me I still owe you a return favour! Go on then, how did you do the stone slabs...?
I also found a cheapish sprue, which the small tower came from (with a bit of modification), which I have most of still which will allow me to cast more of various sizes if / when I do more that require terrain.
The slabs are Milliputt rolled out to about 3mm thick, then sawn into 5mm strips, then each strip cut into 6 - 8mm sections, so you end up with a 5x6 or 8mm slab. Each one is then individually sanded to fit into place along all sides . Theres about 60 slabs on this base, I went freaking nuts!

They look really good! One coat of Nuln oil on the metal parts and a coat of Agrax Earthshade on the skull would really make those parts come to life! He's wanting to play Warhammer as a wargame, and is making his own rules up, which sometimes work, sometimes don't!- are there any simplified rules out there? Never collected 40k (I had some GW stuff yonks ago, and used to buy White Dwarf/GM etc), but I did play the game with tanks and titans...(and mighty empires and bloodbowl) and in fact, had a boxed version of plastic tanks, mostly rhinos and...dammit can't recall the other vehicles, though I did purchase metal based one offs, for the heavy tanks...one maybe had a defence laser as it's main weapon? My nerd memory is (unusually for me) failing me on this particular recollection.
But after viewing some of the pictures here, I would just like to share my appreciation for those who have the talent and patience to carry out those paint jobs. Most excellent.

Epic 40k? Had a partial rerelease (no tiny tanks, but lots of titans!) as Adeptus Titanicus, set in the 30k era. But after viewing some of the pictures here, I would just like to share my appreciation for those who have the talent and patience to carry out those paint jobs. Most excellent.
Sounds like Rhinos, Predators (rhino with big fk off lasers), maybe Basilisks and Baneblades...
If you've got any of that stuff still lying around - let me know!

Also if you want to try inks rather than paints, hobbycraft are doing 3 for £15 on Daylor Rowney FW inks at the mo. I’ve seen them used to good effect on YouTube (eBay miniature rescues being one)
Great shout - thanks. The grey Knight force weapons I posted a while ago were done with D-R inks. Just need to be a little careful with the specific pigments - there's several whites for example, with most being very translucent.
One big advantage is D-R list the pigments on the label...
I'll be popping in over the weekend...
