Anybody know if it is only Exoto who make a 1:18 Jaguar XJR9 LM (the "silk cut Jag")? I've been after one for ages, but am stalling a bit on spending £3-400 on the Exoto one...
Truescale are due to do one but that's also £299! Careful eBay watching will get you an Exoto one for £250. It'll be worth that all day if it doesn't appreciate even!The Exoto one has a rubbish engine cover though that simply doesn't fit!

Thank you Guiddy. Do you know when the Truescale one is due out?The Exoto one has a rubbish engine cover though that simply doesn't fit!
I'll take a look at ebay too.
I'm not a Porsche collector, but if I was I'd definitely be buying this! Amazed this is a genuine livery.

I've a Castrol and a Silk Cut one and the Le Mans winner's fits much better than the IMSA car.
Neither, though, are as bad as some report.
I paid about £100 for my two (some years ago now), well worth the money and, to be honest, with people spending £300 on a plastic shell these days, still worth £300 of anyone's money!
Their Sauber C9 and Nissan R90C are also excellent (actually, a little better than the XJR-9 which was a 'cheaper' line for Exoto initially...)
Just to encourage you :

BBR and kyosho also
BBR = La Ferrari, Enzo
Kyosho = 250 GTO, F40
the Rest are Elite range and one is a super-elite (very rare the black roof 458)
most very expensive now, esp that BBR Enzo and the Elite 288GT0 my fav is the Kyosho F40, but I have a soft spot for the 288GTO
I have every red coupe Ferrari bar the new 488 BBR prices are getting daft money, the above is say £3k just for those 12 cars.
Enzo is the best made and it's a BBR metal with opening every thing, but now about £500 for that one alone The pope ED with that black spoiler.
Best value are the Kyosho models imo a step up from the Elite and well priced the 250GTO is a very nice Model but CMC now do that aggg ££££££
MR also do Ferrari but I don't have any MR models, UT also do the 355 which was rare , but then Hot Wheels bought out a 355 quite late but prices have gone up.
better than share dealing the rate of some of the price increases ;-)
I am not brand loyal I just try and buy the best model going what ever the make hence all the brands I own. the Elite F40 is poor as an Example the Kyohso is mega.
The last few elites are very good I have the 458 Specile, the la Ferrari and F12 in those the last ones they made.
hardest to find now would be the 288GTO and the super Elite back roof 458.
Collecting is very addictive I also have every GT3 RS model lucky only 5 of those

Very nice. I had a spare amazon voucher to use up the other day and came across this bburago FXX-K. Took a chance and bought it as I could always send it back but its actually not bad. BBR = La Ferrari, Enzo

Quality model to model can vary. Some Elites have better paint than Kyosho IME.BBR = La Ferrari, Enzo

UT 355 is actually fairly common and cheap (20-30 quid. and isn't a bad model at the price).
Elite 288 GTO (there are different builds which have different quality apparently), F40 and F50 becoming sought after. Red 458 and Californias command good money, too.

Burago have produced a number of older models, too, which are a good bit cheaper than forking out for an Elite derivative. I bought a couple of Buragos when they started producing again recently and they not as good as Elite etc but also not as expensive and certainly from a distance you'd typically see them in a display cabinet they aren't too bad at all.ferrisbueller said:

They also do signature versions with a bit more detail but this is good enough for display. I guess modern manufacturing methods allow even the lower end manufacturers to produce half decent replicas these days. Whilst we're on Ferrari models, this turned up this week. Had my eye on one for a while as I love the car, but it's a BBR and quite pricey... had to have it in the end though, as I have an Automobilist poster of the same car, and I love it... sorry for the basic pics, was excited when I got it open...!
And here's the poster for anyone that's interested, their stuff is cool:

Another decent looking maisto. I know budget brand's get a bit of stick but if you pick the right ones they are a quick and relatively cheap way of building up a nice collection. I have bought up quite a few ut and maisto cars for little money and on display they don't look out of place alongside my CMCs, tsm's and kyosho's.kuro said:

Agree. In most cases they seem able to capture the basic form well enough. It's details such as wheels, interior, engines etc where they come up short. The kind of thing you can put out on display without worry of a little bit of dust - something I can't do with CMC etc.Gassing Station | Scale Models | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
