I was wondering if anyone here has done the 21309 Saturn V? Most of the reviews I've read say it's pretty much the best kit LEGO have ever done, but the bad reviews really slate it, saying things like it constantly falls to bits as you're building, so infuriating you want to smash it against a wall, etc. Are these folk just rubbish builders/doing it wrong?

They are bad builders. It’s a fun model to build and, once built, very strong. It also looks great and is fun to play with.

Get it!

I'm sure a lot of people have, including me. I bought it just about as soon as it was released (June 2017) and built it straight away. No problems in build, certainly not with it falling apart, and it survived a home move intact too. It's now resident in my guest bathroom and "wow"s everyone who sees it.

This was my 7 year old son's Christmas - many, many hours spent building smile

The train was £68 from Amazon - A total bargain smile - The Titanic in the background is also "Lego", that was about 4 hours of build too...

Saturn V is as cool as fk and pretty bloody big when displayed. Can be separated so that you can see all the rocket modules.

When I built mine, it was pretty straightforward and I only remember it was one of the final modules that caused a little bit of grief but nothing patience and not having sausages for fingers would sort.

Got mine displayed in the conservatory on a ledge and the fact that my wife hasn’t moved it is testament that it’s a good piece (I normally get orders to shift things when I’ve built them).

Looking for a reasonably priced Shuttle and booster set now to complement it.

My 4 year old plays with the Saturn, it's pretty tough, certainly more so than the Caterham which is comfortably the most fragile genuine Lego set I've ever experienced.

I loved the Saturn build, it's pretty fiddly for a Lego set (reminded me more of a Technic build at times) and certainly doesnt go together quite as smoothly as some, but it's a very enjoyable build and looks incredible when finished.

I've never bought lego for myself before although my kids have quite a few star wars sets including the UCS death star. Came across the Saturn V while looking for something to commemorate this years 50th anniversary of the moon landing so my order has been placed. I thought about one of the plastic kits but this looks so much better. Looking forward to building it.

I had exactly the same thought and ended up having to resort to a well-known alternative brand in the face of the cost of the Shuttle Expedition set from a few years ago in the secondary market.

They look good next to each other - near enough to the same scale too.

Is the creator shuttle too small? If it is, can you buy two to make one larger one?

Tonight's build was the X-Wing Starfighter (75218). Took about 4hrs and has some good details. A nice touch is new and original character mini figures.

Been building a few Star wars bits with my son lately (great fun!). Still a few more to go! Plus around 6 or 7 sets of Batman lego to built. Funnily enough, neither of us have seen any Star wars...

Buy it. Ignore any negative reviews. Take your time & the Saturn fits together perfectly. One of my favourite Lego builds.

When standing tall in launch mode it looks amazing.

Mine is in display on the mantle piece - sits perfectly on its cradles.

Unlike the Caterham which falls to pieces if I so much as look at it.

So someone decided to actually launch the Saturn V. The video is slightly painful to watch (excites me Americans) but that’s what fast forward is for. https://youtu.be/0sIfKS8iiLc
