Damn you, I'm going to have to keep it now!

Seriously, though, thank you for posting the pics, that was a massive help.
Glad it was of some help.
Enjoy your build!

Poor bloke (that's a serious amount of Lego City by the way) - I hope she's worth it.

Looks like it's collection only from Dudley, otherwise I might put some bids in.

The article keeps stating 'Vintagr LEGO collection' and talks about sets from the 1970s etc but pretty much everything in that auction (which is clearly his stuff) is barely 10 years old or so.

I know lots of LEGO people but the level of hoarding/compulsive buying needed to have so many lots of 9 or 10 identical sets, all opened and unboxed is a bit weird! And that's ignoring all of the boxes ones...

He seemed a bit obsessed with the City Fire Transporter 4430 - there are at least 37 of them in total that I can see laugh

[Edit] Make that 44 - there are some boxed too.

Auction site says in the listings:

"We are unable to offer in house postage yet in Dudley but recommend That’s Your Lot based locally in Wombourne on 01902 475212..."

Thats Your Lot site says:
"We will collect your items from the Auction house.
Liaise with the auctioneer.
Package your item in the most suitable, specialist packaging for transit.
Insure your goods (terms and conditions apply).
Dispatch to you on a fully trackable service.
Notify you when your packages are on their way and when they will arrive.
We also offer a bespoke courier service.
We accept credit/debit cards, PayPal and Direct Bank Transfer."

Happy bidding then...! biggrin

Might put in some cheeky low bids on the ones that interest me and hope the shipping isn't TOO much!

I've registered with SAS and read through the t&cs, it would appear that a) you can't use a credit card to pay, b) as already pointed out, you'll have to arrange your own courier, and c) VAT will be charged on the hammer price, so that's 20% commission +VAT and 20% VAT on the hammer price!!!!
Unless I've misunderstood the t&cs!!!

The thing is, looking at most of it it's not old enough/interesting enough/rare enough stuff to make it worth auctioning (unless it's actually not his stuff at all...?). Most of that can be bought cheaper elsewhere by the time you factor in VAT and fees as Bobberoo says.

Take the Chiron; their estimate £200-300 so £240-360 inc VAT plus fees plus shipping - but you can buy one for £270 from John Lewis without any of that hassle!

They recon upto £250 for a landrover that retails at £160 as is freely available, :haha:.

Didn’t see a Chiron in the listings.

Right some clarification, i've just spoken to the auction house, they can transport the lots once sold to the Newbury for collection, also they DO NOT ADD VAT TO THE FINAL PRICE, it's only added to the commission!!! GOOD LUCK!!!!!

Lightailing have 40% off site wide for the Chinese lantern festival.

Just ordered a kit for the DB5 (will be interesting to see how it integrates and if all the gadgets still work.

Also ordered a kit for the guggehiem for my old man, and finally I've ordered a briksmax VW camper van lighting kit in the hope that I can install it on the porsche. I've looked at the inventory and think I can get it to work... might have to have a rummage in my big box for a few bits.

What's the best light kit for ecto 1?

Can't help you there I'm afraid as I haven't got an ecto 1.

In general I've found the lightailing kits are easier to install and much more user friendly than the briksmax ones. The bricksmax ones are really fiddly and easy to break bits. The lightailing kits are pre assembled into genuine lego parts, rather than individual LEDs that you have to install yourself with the briksmax kits.

I've not tried the Bricksmax ones but I did install a Lightailing one and of the two it certainly seems the better option imo.
