Looks like this might be the auction: https://auctions.specialauctionservices.com/m/view...
The article keeps stating 'Vintagr LEGO collection' and talks about sets from the 1970s etc but pretty much everything in that auction (which is clearly his stuff) is barely 10 years old or so.

I know lots of LEGO people but the level of hoarding/compulsive buying needed to have so many lots of 9 or 10 identical sets, all opened and unboxed is a bit weird! And that's ignoring all of the boxes ones...
Fair bit of it is early 90s stuff, like the City vehicles and "studded" Technic. Guessing the guy must be slightly autistic and collecting lego was his thing. My wife's step sister is profoundly autistic and apparently some of the people at her day centre collect all sorts of things that seem weird to us as an emotional comfort thing.

Yes, the little cabin cruiser boat is something I had as a child, early 90s I reckon. Poor guy, looks like he is giving into his younger wife. Space in the garage for a gym and a month long trip to Dubai, how nice for him biggrin

Been watching the auction, most lots going around £50-£60 apart from the trains, which are going for silly money!!!

60198 just went for more than you can buy it from Smyths for...mental.

60197 also just went for £30 more than you can get it on Smyths.

I thought exactly the same when I read the article. His wife says "I want him to enjoy the money now as it is all from his hard work", which translates as "get rid of those silly toys, I want a new gym and a month of expensive holiday"

Looks like it all sold for a total of about £14k in the end. Wonder if he actually made any money after what he must've bought it all for originally..?

Built Luke's X-Wing last night - fun little build and sits nicely with the Millennium Falcon and the TIE Fighter. smile

I’m quite impressed with how accurate the estimates are, I’d not have a first clue what all this stuff was worth.

I have been too busy working at a Covid test centre too even think about Lego.

Got the Chiron & Top Gear rally car too keep me busy - I didn’t get the chance too look at the stuff before it was auctioned so I have no idea what was on offer.

Alos I’m banned from buying Lego...... Apparently.

It's not for me, but I saw that the City Cargo Train RC Battery Powered Set is down to £123 from £180 in Smyths...

He seemed a bit obsessed with the City Fire Transporter 4430 - there are at least 37 of them in total that I can see laugh

[Edit] Make that 44 - there are some boxed too.
Maybe he has lots of copies of catcher in the rye as well.

Alot of his stuff is far too new or from the lego "dark age" the proper old stuff and space / castle all did well though.

I gave up waiting can’t get one! So bought the fiat 500.

I've got one on back order at the moment, every week or two I get another email moving the date out. Who knows when it'll arrive!

Speaking of the Razor Crest, the lad just finished his one and wants to light it up. Best place to get the kits? Prices (and I assume quality) seem to vary massively.
Game of Bricks looked like a reasonable cost, any opinions?

Based on my experience with the Lightailing kit I would recommend it. They do one for the Razor Crest: https://www.amazon.co.uk/LIGHTAILING-Light-Razor-B...

Others here have tried the Bricksmax ones but apparently they're fiddlier and not as good; I've not tried one but would default to the Lightailing ones on the basis of the feedback on PH...

It's cheaper direct from lightailing and there's 20% off at the mo too. Only trouble is the 4week delivery from China

Finished the Saturn V tonight.

Have to say I didn't really enjoy the build. Not exactly sure why, but it wasn't the most fun.

The model once complete however is superb! Very impressed!
