Just turning in from the Friday testing and first qualifying session for the DiSCA Le Mans 24 hours. Tomorrow there's more qualifying, then at 3pm the race begins (guess when it ends!)... anyone near Henley-on-Arden is free to pop into the sports hall at the college sports centre any time and look at the massive track and watch some of the racing.

And a view of free practice at some point in the day. I'll get my little video of 3/4th down the mulsanne uploaded.

Hi guys,
I've recently moved into a new house and have a spare bedroom with not much going on in it and quite fancy a Scalextric set. I've seen this one for £145 on Jadlam (hi Russ) but I just thought I'd see if anyone had any other suggestions for a set before I made my purchase. I don't want to spend a fortune and it's only for a bit of fun when mates pop round for a few beers.
Thanks, Rich

There are loads of pre-owned sets on Gumtree and Ebay. Gumtree seems a little better if you can collect as the sets are cheaper. I got a full set of Ninco including cars for £40. No guarantee of quality obviously but you could get a lot for £145 2nd hand. 14yr olds flogging their sets to pay for iPhones, drugs and baby clothes I've recently moved into a new house and have a spare bedroom with not much going on in it and quite fancy a Scalextric set. PS. Maybe get a 2nd hand set and then spend the rest on quality cars from Jadlam.

Just casually browsing this thread as I'm regretting selling almost all of my cars and track. Just wondering, I hope everyone on here with magnet cars has done the right thing and ditches the magnets and fitted sticky tires? It's SO much more fun, backing off into corners then powersliding out. I have a Fly Alfa 156 I never use as it's too beautiful... And a bashed up modified Scalextric Impreza that's massive fun.
Now where's my credit card...

Be careful it can very expensive very quickly these days with so many different manufacturers out there providing some veryNow where's my credit card...
good cars.
Most of my cars have the magnets removed. No fun in having a rear wheel drive rally car that dosen't stick the tail out around the corners.
I'm considering buying one of the new Scalextric sets that are pre order at the moment. Can anyone throw any light on the new digital system as I can't find much information about it apart from it being £500 and two lane. I'd prefer a four lane setup and wonder if this option would be worth pursuing on the latest system

The whole idea of digital is that cars can change lanes, so a 2 lane setup isn't quite as restrictive as it would be for a non digital set. I started with a 2 lane set, but it wasn't difficult to buy a few extra pieces of track to increase the number of lanes when required.DIW35 said:

To turn a 2-lane track in to 4-lanes requires curves of a different radius so that they can be added to the inside or outside of your existing track. You can also purchase pit lane entry pieces which can split a single lane in to 2 lanes, giving the driver the choice of which to take. Conversely, if fitted the other way round it will merge 2 lanes in to one.
With the use of these pieces it is possible to have a track that is 2-lane in some places and 3 or 4 lane in other places.
In this image you can see that the 3rd lane has been used to create a pit area. I am running a program on the laptop that monitors throttle use and will deplete a car's fuel as appropriate, so each car needs to call in to the pits to refuel through the race, otherwise it's speed is reduced until it crawls round and does a pitstop.
However, there's no reason that 3rd lane couldn't have been extended further round the track just to make and additional racing lane.
