I am now 80 percent through this. The diff assembly and associated suspension was pretty tricky.

I've given up trying to resolve the missing parts from my Alie Express Saturn V purchase. £40 down the tubes. The seller (Bricks Club Store) has strung me along for weeks painfully trying to identify what I was missing and then claiming they would rectify it, but now they are not responding to messages. The AliExpress dispute process is garbage, as it doesn't accept missing items as a valid dispute, just telling you to wait longer. I think I'll be sticking to the real deal from now on.
Ah I ordered from this store. Sent totally the wrong product. Taken 4 months to get the right one. Hope it’s not missing anything

Mercedes 6x6. 4 motors and fully remote control. Very impressive for 140. Now I've had my fun building it I will probably be putting it on eBay later.

Finally got round to building the Mini ... it was the princely sum of £16 delivered ... it went together really well and I'm pleased with the finish for the money.

I have the Fiat 500 on order and winging its way here from distant worlds of AliExpress to sit alongside my Colosseum as we speak smile

That Lego Mini looks great, seems to be about £24 on Aliexpress. I wonder how much it would be to get the right pieces to change it's colour?

Batman Tumbler - randomly bought from Wish (not my usual source) for the pricely sum of £55 delivered. It's an absolute beast and went together exceptionally well.

This guy's build photos of the 917 model make me want it so very very much. Although the extra stickers costing a third of the model is a bit eye watering.

My brother lives in China and sometimes sends me pics of various LEGO fakes you can get delivered to your door for pennies. I like the look of most of these ones.

Wish I'd bought a few last time we were there but our suitcases were stuffed with Lepin versions of expensive real sets so we didn't have room for more random stuff. [url]

Have been lurking in this thread a lot. These Lego alternatives..... is the quality much removed from genuine Lego?

And what is the customs cost hit like?

I have 3 sets now.

Steamboat Willy
Mini
Fiat 500

Quality is great, all fit togethers perfectly and 'clicks', parts are all present (unlike many official sets I have had lately). I have only had one issue and that was with the Fiat 500 windscreen which required a dab of superglue onto the end blocks as the 2 stubs on the leading edges of the windscreen weren't quite moulded correctly.

Ive never been hit with import costs or VAT etc...

Variable. I'd say on things that need to move/not move it can be somewhat questionable. Genuine Lego has very, very precise tolerances and very good quality control so that things that should move do and things that shouldn't move don't. With the alternatives you can have two identical parts, one will pivot and the other will bind.

Equally the clutch sometimes can be a bit variable.

Finally the colours can be off. I've got Slave 1 and a few of the odder shaped bricks are totally different to the ones around them while the genuine Lego are the same.

Things have changed now so the days of declaring it as a £1 "gift" are gone. VAT is collected by aliexpress or whoever you go through so you'll see it on purchase.

In theory this should make it rather less of a lottery as well and hopefully should end the rip off that is parcel farces "fee" for collecting VAT.

Still, it's early days with the new system so things may change over the next few weeks/months.

How does one go about obtaining one of these fake Lego Authentic Plastic Interlocking Brick Construction sets?

What would one search on on the express of Ali? scratchchin

yep, although sometimes better to download the app as the search function of the website blocks words like lego and is deliberately bloody useless

Find the Lego part number and search Aliexpress for it.

For example the Millennium Falcon kit is 75192, search for that and you'll find plenty.
