My latest acquisition arrived today, I'm a bit of a Camel Trophy Land Rover pervert so it had to be bought.

It's a really nice bit of kit. I'm going to change the tyres for something slightly smaller, I had Proline Grunts on a previous build which should fit nice and they're a copy of the Michelin XCL that they used on Camel Trophy. Its the quietest running RC I've ever heard. I'm not keen on the RX/ESC combo but I think a HW fusion and a Dumbo RX will be purchased so I can use my DDF-350 TX.

It arrived my £45 MN99S crawler from MN Models.

Absolutely bonkers for the price. Came ready to run, with controller, battery, charger, loads of spare parts, tools, a set of upgrade metal driveshafts, and a few accessories.

It s brilliant fun to drive, and it climbs/crawls really well. Speed modulation is great, low speed control is good. The scale detail is good, and it s got a full set of correctly working lights, indicators, brake lights etc.

Delivery from Ali Express only took 4 days.

Hi/Lo speed settings switchable from the transmitter which is useful as well.

I love to modify things, and there are absolutely tons of upgrade parts available for it, so I ll be certainly be doing that soon smile

Highly recommended if anyone is even thinking about buying a crawler.

This is showing as £22 on AliExpress for me at the moment, massive discounts when it's in the basket

What version would you buy? There's a million that all look the same, looks to be an upgraded version too?

The basic one without all the metal bits (from what I've read) I don't have one, but I've been sniffing around it for a while.

Can't see any with free shipping for under £30.

Just used that 11/11 coupon though to get some new diffs for my Arrma Kraton 6S.

I ordered one last week, arrived this evening. My little boy has been on about one so figured at £30 it was worth a shot. Seems ok for the money. Quite weighty, reasonable quality and drives ok. Shocks / springs are weak and the wheels are held with a tiny screw so time will tell. Currently test driving ahead of Christmas and it's fine. Looks good!

Post Christmas update on the above... it's been well tested over the past 48hrs on mud, sand, home made Lego and cardboard courses and both mirrors have snapped off, the shell is looking a bit used but it's surprisingly good for the money. Battery seems to last ages too, a good 30mins run time and it's climbed some pretty steep stuff.

Can't see it lasting long... but this far, good fun!

Brought one of these just before Xmas with the upgrade to metal suspension parts.
Ran it as standard for a day then stripped it down to fit upgrades and gave it a coat of orange spray paint. Had to buy a pair red metal axles to go with the rest of the red parts of course.
My Brother had also bought a standard one so We had a tug of war contest which ended as a draw after Mine decided to die.
Now it stops working after a couple of minutes with the headlight flashing , a power off/on revives it but obviously damaged the ESC. So more upgrades incoming , brushless motor and separate ESC. smile

Broke my ankle a couple of weeks ago so been stuck indoors, not allowed to drive and can’t hobble very far with the stupid moonboot thing so been trying to find stuff to do. Ages ago I started a project to revive my old Schumacher axis from 25 ish years ago. Bought some bits - tyres etc- but then my local RC shop closed up in weird circumstances (Rochester RC….) and I lost interest.

However the indoor track they started carried on under independent management so I’m determined to get down there next year. Ordered some shorty 2s lipos- the car was designed for saddle pack 6-cell packs which don’t really exist any more- but I designed and 3d printed a battery holder for the 2s packs which fits nicely and actually makes the car more balanced.

The chassis has been rebuilt with some new front suspension bits as it was packed away all those years ago after an incident with a car park bollard, and while I was there I replaced various bearings and rebuilt the diffs and shocks. Schumacher still do spares for these after all those years which is great. Servo is a hitec metal geared one I found in a box of bits in the loft, took a while to find a servo horn that fitted right though as they have an unusual spline pattern. Added the purple aluminium motor mount which stiffens up the lay shaft area and looks cool smile

Put a cheap brushless motor and ESC in as my period electronics went in my lockdown build CAT XLS.

Not sure it will get raced again as the local clubs all seem to just have a spec Tamiya class for 1/10 touring cars and it won’t be competitive against modern chassis but the local track do arrive+drive sessions so it will definitely get run.

Fitted with the old Mitsubishi eclipse body shell I used to race with (was around the time of the original Fast and the Furious! :-D )

I bought a new trx4m from marketplace.

It was £100 and came with a few upgrades and was a shelf queen.

I have gone a bit OTT.

Injora props, bumpers, light bar, bigger wheels/tyres, 2 speed brushless set up, new shocks….Need to fit it all.

I will put pics up tomorrow.

That looks ace!
Great way to spend a bit of time too

I used to like Rochester rc, one of my local shops too, was initially surprised when they closed, however the underlying financial situation made it inevitable sadly

Still have model world in Sittingbourne

Yea shame they went under, some really helpful guys worked there. Tried to go too big too soon and people got ripped off. Sounds like the guy just disappeared back to the states. Literally 10 mins walk away so was very convenient.

I used to have a weekend job at Model World when he had the shop at Notcutts garden centre near Maidstone. It’s a shame they don’t open on Sundays as my son occasionally has football matches on the pitches round the corner near Sittingbourne greyhound track. Would have spent lots more money there otherwise!

RCKicks talked about this a while ago as they were a sponsor of the channel. Ambition over budget it seems.

I spent a LOT of my teens and early 20s in there and the shop in Ashford. I was very good mate with Adam Stodd - we used to race infernos back in the day together
I hate to think how much money I have spent with Mark over the years

Yes it is a shame, and the current store isn't a patch on when they had the big one at Notcutts
