So this just arrived from Tower hobbies USA .

Engine is something I've dreamed of owning for perhaps 20 years, way back when it was first released , this is the new second generation improved version.

The VS1 tunnel racer is also very nice, beautiful simple clean lines and very nicely finished, hard to believe it was only $150.00 !

Just don't ask how much that motor cost!

Watch out for the build photos very soon!,

Nice, looking forward to see it completed.
But I gotta ask - how much for the motor?

$399.00! A lot of money, but OS quality is never cheap!

That looks lovely. On the FB forum I am on a lot are taking the glow motor off & fitting brushless with an adapter plate. I'd have to do that as my club is no I/C of any sort.

I guess I'm lucky to have a relatively local club that allows all sorts of nitro models to run.

If I go to my local lake in Redditch, I do have to take my brushless hydroplane, which always pleases the wildlife and locals too!

Well I’m ashamed to say that I never did get around to building this, it’s been sat in my garage for almost 5 years!

I think now that we can do outdoor stuff again it’s time to get that build started!

Also that fabulous OS 21XM engine is now almost £600 to buy new, but they are sold out everywhere!

Is there some sort of flexi shaft in there on the curve between motor and prop?

I've had a half-built Ekranoplans in my loft for much longer rhan that... I lost heart when I realised it would be too heavy to lift off.

Get yours going this summer smile

It’s just finding the time, even though we had lots of it during lockdown something else always got in the way!

It’s out now, so I’m going to find the time to build a test bench rig at the weekend so I can start the engine and run it in!

So I took a look at building a test rig to run the engine in, then thought don’t need too, I will just mount it on the boat l.

So made a start this weekend.

I must say it’s actually a pleasure to work on a model made from marine ply, it’s a very nice material to work with.

Sorry that it’s still a pain to post a lot of pictures in a thread here.

That provided template for the motor mount made it nice and easy to align.

Of course all the hole sizes are in US Imperial, so had to use metric drills as close as I could get.

Went with a 2mm pilot followed by a 4mm main.

The included metal mounting plate, which is pre drilled and threaded is also a nice attention to detail too.

Also just realized that my OS 21 Outboard is over £550 new to buy, but it also seems they are as rare as hens teeth too!

Better look after mine!
