Unfortunately I cannot attend due to family commitments. I was hoping that those going would be kind enough to take some pictures so I can really understand what I’ve missed...

I’d love to see the test shots of the WNWs Lancaster and any other new kits, but any pictures would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Rob

Especially the competition winners. Is that Italian chap with his Steampunk unicycle and Tesla Bugatti etc still at it?

Thanks for the link. The stressed skin looks fantastic. I will probably wait for inevitable price cut before buying though.

Large scale models - facebook link with WNW photos, did I read yesterday that WNW will offer the Lanc nose i.e forward
of the wings as a standalone kit. i plan to head down tomorrow so will get a few shots then.

Airfix Hellcat was really left field.

I think the hell cat is a smart move. There’s a far bigger market across the pond that it will appeal to.

Saw the WnW and the HK Lancs - WnW wins hands down on refinement from what I could tell. Having said that, the HKM sample looked poorly put together. The WnW presentation of their model was far more impressive. What’s a bit of a shame is that they have so much internal detail that you can’t see once closed up.

Can’t see how a 1:24 Hellcat addresses many modeller’s must-have desires TBH. It looked pretty bland and lacking in detail compared with with the smaller scale WnW Lancaster.

Picked up some 1:72 stuff: Airfix Swordfish floatplane, Airfix Bulldog, and blagged a Special Hobby Kittyhawk 1a and AMK MiG 31 for review builds. Plus about £200 burned on materials! Left tired but with a warm fuzzy feeling.

If you can get there tomorrow I’d highly recommend going.

The hellcat is aimed at the US market. I doubt that the Sea Fury and Wellington kits sold as many as the Mitchell did.
I think it’s a smart move and if the quality is good hopefully it will pay off.

I moan and groan about Airfix but want them to get better and do well. It’s nice to have a “big” manufacturer in the U.K.

The subject is what it is, I just thought the detail wasn’t there for the scale. Didn’t pay it much attention tbh, but it looked more Mosquito standard than Typhoon.

Look a bit closer then, it’s just as good as the Typhoon if not better.

Could be a tricky wait. Any idea on pricing?

All I was saying was that, to my eyes, this:

Didn't look as detailled/refined in the same areas as in this:

So the images might not represent the same kind of visible detail (I know the Hellcat has some gun-bay detail which isn't in the image) - and/or the Hellcat might be a less complex aircraft, I don't know, but at a glance, that's how it appeared to me.

Managed to drop in for 2hrs - HUGE!
I was not prepared - I imagine if you have a list of things you need it is great - all in one place. But did look at the Lancs, which was nice. Have the HK version on order - someone looking at the WNW version said £*** - I have no confirmation on that - but that is double the HK version- that accounts for a lot of parts/development differences. WNW version did look amazing - but double?

Edited the WNW price, as heard a different figure - so no idea!

If the WnW Lancaster is double the price, then the HK version might be better in terms of paying for stuff you can actually see. Then again there will always be a market for the best of anything...even at twice the cost.
