I threw all my Humbrol paint out years ago.

I use Tamiya acrylic, Vallejo Model Colour, or Vallejo Model Air acrylics. The paint dries very quickly and tends to form a crust within and around the bottle nozzle or inside the top of the cap, which can break off and contaminate the liquid paint. Some colours seem to precipitate after a while, so no matter how much you shake them, the solvent isn't strong enough to break down the larger particles.

I'm using an airbrush with a fine nozzle too, which obviously is more prone to blockage.
Interested to read this. I'm using Tamiya acrylic, Vallejo and Revell Aqua and find I have to clean the airbrush almost every time I use it no matter how much I mix and strain the paint. All these acrylics seem to coagulate into lumps just behind the nozzle.
Are you using the right strainer mesh size? If you've got a 200 micron nozzle, and you're using 200 micron mesh or larger then there's not much point.

I'm using 150 micron mesh with a 200 micron nozzle. In theory if you pull the needle right back, any particles should clear, but I've not had any issues at all so far.

You could also try periodically cleaning any dried paint off the needle tip with thinners on a paintbrush.

A small distraction with tenuous link to this thread; swap 48 hours for 48 minutes....Arriving very late to our Watford club's Build A Model In A Night evening necessitated very low-res modelling, only tools being scalpel, superglue and activator and grey sharpie for decoration. Well, that's all I took anyway.

A bit of fun but paling against the Beer Wagon show rod and Revell Porsche tractor a couple of my fellow members built the same evening!

Neat kit, nicely built.

Too kind...I'll do one properly one day. Really the wheel sets can't be rushed...the tracks don't fit my hasty and very wonky alignment.
I don't recall ever making this one but It was Airfix' Churchill that put me off tracked military as a kid..... Have enjoyed your revisiting of the refuelling set, lots of nice road wheels. I enjoyed the Matador, recon. set and the half-track and 88mm again and am going through my much preferred Matchbox 76ths of youth.....there's comfort in nostalgia!

Is it a new tool? It looks crisp.

I’ve been looking at Matchbox 1:76 stuff recently too - Monty’s Caravan was a favourite, and the half track with the four anti-aircraft guns was nice too. Never built the French tank set, but I’m strangely attracted to the colour scheme.

Mouldings are from the original 50-odd year old tooling and still showing sharpness and fine detail...over-thickness of parts can't draw criticism for such a stage-dame! My beloved Matchbox were definitely finer and assemble very well as I've been rediscovering:

I WILL complete the range...

bounce

I've spotted 9 of those that I built as a teen. Sadly, I don't think any of them survive now, as I left them at my mum's house when I upped and joined the army, and with 6 younger siblings having handled and "played war" with them, they didn't stand much of a chance. I might still have the half track with the quad .50s in a biscuit tin somewhere, but that's about it. I probably have a couple in a big box of model kits I never got around to making, but at the moment, sadly, I can see no progress getting made on anything like that...

I think I'm torn between the Diamond T tank transporter and Monty's Caravan as my favourites from that selection.

Great stuff - the Matchbox bases were genius.

Finally got a stand for this one today. The original decal worked fine after a coat of Microscale Decal Film:
