Problem with airbrushing is your initial outlay is quite expensive, because you want both the compressor and the airbrush, though once you have your kit, it will last many years of course, but do you want to spend £200 to find out you just don't like airbrushing?
This is exactly the problem with these threads ...what stops you spending £68, finding out you don't like airbrushing, but the reason you don't like it turns out to be because you only spent £68?Look online (or talk to people at model shows), and you'll find an order of magnitude more people having issues with Amazon airbrushes than, say, Harder&Steenbeck airbrushes. There is a reason for that.
You need a good airbrush and a good compressor. I tried running a good airbrush with a cheap compressor and it was a waste of time. (To be fair to the compressor, it was fine when airbrushing ink or guache, because you only need about 20psi, for short periods.)
And even good airbrushes will disappoint if they're not looked after properly.

So OP I hope that’s all nice and clear for you.
Buy a cheap or expensive set up and it might or might not / definitely will work really well unless you don’t look after it or use a cheap and expensive bit, but that might work if you get a good one.
Simples.
...and someone else will ask exactly the same question next week. Buy a cheap or expensive set up and it might or might not / definitely will work really well unless you don’t look after it or use a cheap and expensive bit, but that might work if you get a good one.

It would be far easier for everyone to have a sticky at the top of the page with what you just wrote.

I agree. Then you can take advice of someone who is fairly new to airbrushing and can give recent anecdotes or an experienced modeller who went through this years ago. It would be far easier for everyone to have a sticky at the top of the page with what you just wrote.
Thanks for running down my thread guy's, Typical PH fashion, Yes i've used an airbrush before, Was about 30 years ago, It had a propellant can, Cheapo Humbrol one i think? The result's i got with this was so much better than Brush painting, I just wanted some input into a cheap compressor and airbrush that would give me the same result's, I ain't flush in cash like some of you obviously are, Sorry for asking, Cheers.

I know what you mean. What’s your budget? Like I said, a cheap setup will give a much better result than a brush. Or eBay might have something.Edited by klunkT5 on Sunday 24th May 18:53
Best of luck :-)

There is actually a whole lot of great advice in the posts.Edited by klunkT5 on Sunday 24th May 18:53

This is a friendly part of the forum. Everyone will not always agree, but questions are always answered and advice offered.
My experience is based on second hand cheap Chinese airbrushes and compressor then a more expensive airbrush (£90 harder & Steenbeck Ultra)
In end most of my problems were down to the paint mix and running too much air pressure and my own skill/patience or lack there of, it’s getting better slowly
Modellingtools.co.uk in my experience have been helpful

A cheap set off amazon will be good to get you started. Once you get a bit of experience under your belt you will have a better idea of what you want before spending loads.
My first airbrush was a neo for iwata and to be honest I preferred the £20 amazon special I replaced it with.
Sorry if that wasn’t helpful. My first airbrush was a neo for iwata and to be honest I preferred the £20 amazon special I replaced it with.
Just to add. I am very sorry if you found the difference of opinion detracted from you getting a decent answer to your question.
Like most modellers we really like new people taking up the hobby and really want to help out. It’s a shame that a bit of banter has put you off a bit.
In order to give you a much fairer reflection of the general goodwill in the hobby I have a Chinese knock off of a harder & stienback I got off Amazon. It was my airbrush of choice right up to my recent purchase of a H&S infinity.
If you PM me your address I will post it over (you might need to wait for lockdown to ease a bit) for free. If you want it of course. (I have even given it a right good clean for you)
