Can someone explain to me what is going on here on the a13? The limit changes from 50 to 30 and the second average speed camera is literally couple meters away?

I havent seen any other average speed cameras once I went through the tunnel, the only ones I have seen Is the normal ones (gatso or whatever they're called) so I'm not sure what to think of this?

Surely it doesn't measure your average speed within like 100 yards if that straight after a 50mph limit?

I'm not in london very often however this has really surprised me.

Also I forgot to add I'm pretty sure the first set of average speed cameras are the end of the 50mph limit, hope that makes sense?

I'd guess at the first average cam is for the end of the 50 section and the next camera is the start of the 30 section .

I don't suppose 1 camera can do both jobs .

Yeah you would think so, however after the second one there is no more average speed cameras on the road, and the limit picks up to 40mph not long after.

There are no average speed cameras in the 30 limit but the concern keeps people that don't drive it regularly to a low pace. Coming from someone who drove that road for years!

It cought me off guard tbh, I was going at steady 48 to 50mph, I have seen the 30mph sign in the distance so I started to ease of the accelerator I didnt want to slam on the breaks like an idiot,I must of gone through then at about 35mph and I was thinking to myself there is no way they measure the speed within 100 yards or less when the limit just about changed.

Also like I stated the first set of average speed ones seem to be the end of the 50mph zone.

Don't worry about it, if there was an average speed check in that 30 limit, there wouldn't be anyone left driving in east London!

Haha, let's hope that's true, like I said I tried slowing down that doesnt mean in gonna slam on my breaks straight after a 50mph limit, these cameras cought me off guard I just wanted to ask what's the crack with them cameras as it seemed a bit weird to me, but from what I gathered that second average speed camera Is not active as there is no 30mph average speed zone.

London took it out of me today as a new hgv driver it does drain ya smash

Enjoy 30, once you get further into town, 20's your lot... good luck finding any decent parking.

Speed limits drop as you approach the City, hence 50 to 30 in preparation for 20...

OK i'm a regular on that Canning town section and my best guess is that it's an abandoned half arsed attempt to make the section from Canning town to the other side of Limehouse link all 30mph. Anyway there is no further set of average cameras after those pictured so all good smile
