Brushless at 1/16?

I use MSUK.

And r/rccars on Reddit.
But there is a wealth of knowledge on here too
I also watch a lot of Youtube videos as there is plenty of info/reviews on there if you pop the model of rc car you have.
Tomley RC is a decent channel to watch.

Hi Matt, I've ended up talking myself into buying the boy a bog standard Tracer as well... Thinking he can have that to get used to before I let him unleash the more powerful one. He'll probably want to race with me at some point too.https://www.msuk-forum.co.uk/forums/

Will probably use the tracer as a platform to get him into upgrading as well. Not going to bother with going brushless early on, but will want to upgrade to the oil shocks. The UK online shops all seem to be out of stock, but they're listed on amazon and aliexpress. Is there there any way of knowing if I'm buying rubbish or is it just luck of the draw do you know? There's a few people on msuk that have said the cheap imported ones (from ebay I think) were a mistake and they've wished they'd spent a bit more from a more legit retailer... But not currently an option as they're OOS.

Nice one. Your little lad will love it. 3 batteries should give you a decent amount of runtime too.
Hi Matt, hope you are doing okay.I've just opened up the hbx Pro to test it out before my son's birthday and it's making quite a loud metallic grinding noise. Doesn't sound right at all. Do you think this is normal? Could it be a lubricant issue maybe?

I've opened up a query with banggood so will see what they say. Incidentally, the car is currently on offer at about 80 quid delivered with two batteries! Doh!
Hi sorry for the delay. When I swapped to metal gears in mine I put some red grease on them too. I’d open them up as I suspect you might need to put some grease on your metal gears too.
First video sound like it’s cogging a bit too, but I could be wrong with that assumption.

No worries, and thank you for responding, much appreciated. I'll see what banggood say... Someone commented on my YouTube video saying it has the wrong pitch pinion fitted... Whatever that is? First video sound like it’s cogging a bit too, but I could be wrong with that assumption.

Pinion is attached to the motor. As far I am aware there is only a 14t available for this so someone saying they put a smaller one on doesn’t seem right to me.
Have a look here as there is an in-depth review of one.

It sounds like a metal drivetrain to me!..... Perhaps a bit "tight" still and some grease will almost certainly need to go in - based on previous experience with some cheaper models and more expensive ones! (looking at you ARRMA)
Couple of things to try...
Is there a throttle calibration sequence? Try recalibrating and see if the cogging or hesitation is improved.
Give it a ittle bit of grease in transmission as suggested.
It's all a little new and tight..... Flip it on its back and use thottle trim to get the wheels spinning up and leave it for 10 minutes.... This is a bit of a break in for the transmission (and motor) and may quieten it down some...
All these worked nicely with my WLtoys models.
