Pocher 1/4 scale Ducati

Time to preview my next big build

The box is massive and barely fits on my dining room table.
Got the scale hardware set and improved decals, the latter mainly so I can get rid of a noticeable seam line on the exhaust cans as some of the decals are for US spec bikes.


So who’s interested in a build thread, or shall I just update in a few months with the completed model?

Yes it’s massive. Rear tyre next to the Lego equivalent


Inside the big box is a slightly smaller box filled with plastic


And under that a box full of metal parts


And screws, lots of tiny screws

I've seen a few of these floating around, not cheap.

Given I have a 1299 this has been on my radar for some time, so please do a build thread.

First job, put the screws from the plastic bags into a set of pill pots, makes them a lot easier to find


The actual build will probably start this weekend, need to clear my workbench of a couple of other builds, including my delayed Christmas group build.

I've got the original Pocher Ducati kit in my stash, along with the F40 (and transkit) and the recently released Lotus. I've also got another 1/8th F40 that came out as a Panini partwork.

I wonder if I'll ever get the free time to build them....

Good to know I'm not the only one. I bought a Pocher Rolls Royce kit about 30 years ago when our local model shop was closing down. I think I only paid £150 for it. I will get around to building it one day.

I've seen the Ducati kit advertised and it looks really good.

I’ve got the hardware kit, so will be covering it once I get started.

Made a start with the cylinders, bodies and engine block are metal, heads are plastic



Scale hardware used to fix the heads. The block halves aren’t attached yet, hence the gaps. Some touch ups and detail painting to do, but as everything is screwed together it’s easy to take apart.

Next decision- to weather or keep clean.

That 917 will be on my "want" list. At least it's not being released for 6 months....

Engine block put together. Added the generator wiring and a missing oil hose plus the scale fixings.

The saga continues, this time with added painting
Various covers and details added to the block, again using the scale hardware, including the air intakes.

Gearbox cover and chain sprocket added to the other side. Added the missing ribbing to the oil cooler, this has subsequently been painted X-18.

Starter motor repainted to better represent the original. Aftermarket decal used, it was a bit thin and didn’t go down too easily. Scale hardware used to attach.


One advantage of the kit being largely screw together is that the pieces can be painted separately and then assembled without worrying about clearing paint off the surfaces to be glued.
