AI dioramas with your models
Discussion
There’s not much point to it, really, but I just find it quite enjoyable to see a vehicle that looks very similar indeed to the model I’ve built, with the same markings, in a different (and often attractive or interesting) setting other than, say a table top with a wall or computer behind it.

I don t get it - it s not the image of the model in the diorama, so what s the point?
You might as well ask it to generate an image of, say, a Messerschmitt on an airfield, and cut the model image out altogether. Or did I miss something?
It's just creating some artwork like you would see on the box, but based on your own model. You might as well ask it to generate an image of, say, a Messerschmitt on an airfield, and cut the model image out altogether. Or did I miss something?

I guess you could tell it to keep the model unaltered apart from perhaps lighting?dr_gn said:

You could, that’s something I haven’t actually included in my prompts. Generally, the vehicle subjects that Copilot has generated from my tank models look pretty close to the model but more in the style of a highly detailed painting.I haven’t asked for photorealistic in the five or six images it’s created from the models selected so far. I might do another one from my Me 262 at some point but ask it keep the model unaltered other than appropriate lighting adjustments to retain a degree of realism.dr_gn said:

This. It can make a glue bomb look good. You might as well ask it to generate an image of, say, a Messerschmitt on an airfield, and cut the model image out altogether. Or did I miss something?
Here we go again!
The model:

The command:
"Please use the aircraft from the uploaded file, without changing it in any way, to insert in a photorealistic image of a muddy field, surrounded by US Army personnel, inspecting it after it nosed over on landing"
The AI image:

This one was a real pain! The usual problem, plane and background fine, figures too large.
Asked for the plane to be bigger, no change. Asked for the figures to be smaller, no change.
When I asked for the figures to be reduced by 50%, result. But grudgingly it only did two of them. I had to ask for the others to be reduced one by one. And there was still one giant which refused to shrink so in the end I asked for it to be removed. That did work.
Fun, isn't it?

The models - a cheap and cheerful Corgi 1/43 set:

The AI diorama from Gemini:

1. The wheels look too big, probably based on 12" type
2. The aux lights are wrong (four off, not three originally) but are correct for the models they are based on, so I didn't change them
3. The drivers and passengers don't have overalls or helmets. Again this was all dreamt up by AI so I didn't change that
4. The bonnet straps are out of scale, but again this was down to AI so not changed
5. The number plates are all wrong, but interestingly, they were close to those of one of the film cars and I gave no prompts for these
