Finished this one a couple weeks ago, 1/18 Sunstar based Focus WRC of Valentino Rossi from Rally Monza 2009. Decals drawn by myself.

Painted and stripped at least 3 times but finally achieved an acceptable finish thanks to Tamiya clear aerosol working miracles over bloomed Airfix lacquer. Finally it can run and play with it's older, more sporty brother....

Clear SLA Spidey

And sprayed with Tamiya clear blue and red, silver misted under the red as he started to go purple.....finished with black sharpie

Not up to the standards of the skilled modellers on here, but I get a lot of pleasure from refurbishing old Matchbox cars that I remember from my childhood.

A typical box of shrapnel I start with, to fettle up or use for spares:

Models get stripped down, cleaned, straightened and repaired followed by a repaint (Humbrol colours brushed on).
Compared to the professional restorers, my efforts are only average at best, but they make a nice display when finished:

What's the process there please? Interested in trying something similar with a couple of childhood toys.

Great work Plinth and I know must be very rewarding!! I KNOW I had most of those...I was a highly afflicted collector in my youth...
Good to see cars like the Draguar in the to-do box can be found with the plastic bubble-top intact. I guess there's only so much damage one can restore over and missing parts stop play?

Not necessarily, spare parts, tyres, stickers, decals and even reproduction boxes are easily obtained:

Cheers, GG.
If parts are badly damaged and I don’t have a spare, something can be cobbled together from odd bits of plastic – I’m not aiming for top standard work (like the guy on Youtube, who is very talented) – I just enjoy the repair process.
Damaged windows (the Draguar in particular) are the hardest to restore – polishing can help, but sometimes I have to replace with clear plastic sheet moulded to shape.

My skills are a bit limited (I certainly don’t apply the paint as well as you do) but I am learning as I go along.
I also collect a few original cars – here is a selection - you might recognise some of these!

They look factory fresh to me, you've definitely captured the tricky vibrant colours of the Whizzwheels era!
I have a Bora somewhere, thanks, I'm inspired!
