I've got these two sat here, both from the 90's. The interior trim sticjers for the Merc are a bit dry and crazed.
I'd certainly be interested in the Mercedes if it's still available.Managed to get another one off the shelf and into the cabinet:

And with some other American stuff I've built over the years, on a rare excursion out of the cabinet:

Lovely! I'm out of touch, not aware of that '66 wagon kit. Did it come with the wheels of your build or are they from the Monogram '37 Ford kit?
Thanks, and very well-spotted on the wheels! I built the '37 years ago, for some reason it ended up in bits and I found the wheels inside a box for a Mustang (another idea I must have bee having at some point in the past). The box art doesn't do it any favours but it's generally a pretty decent kit:

I should have paid attention to how the bonnet trim would fit above the grille, but nothing fitted together in a very positive way there and it was difficult to mock-up.
A mix of lowering, shaving, smoothing, filling recesses where chrome should have gone and removing the front quarterlights to give it this late '80s look. I had been contemplating building it more sympathetically, with a period metallic paint and rally wheels, but for some reason this look came together when I found the billet wheels.
This weekend my son and I found all the main bits for the '37, so that might get rebuilt (but on different wheels now!).
P.S. Thanks also for your kind words on the Sunny Truck.
A very clean-shaven look...takes me back in time to many a '90s SM/CC/HotRod mag feature!
You're right about the box art not inspiring but I love the flamed "wood" panel decals...bit incongruous on a mid-size wagon...but ta for the info, I'll keep my eye out for the kit.
I recall Monogram's '37 being the first new tooling of a rod for decades, eagerly anticipated and gratefully received. Mine has Plymouth Prowler wheels under it...
The Datsun was just right, really made me look and smile like attractive and interesting things should do!

That was exactly my inspiration! I like what was happening back then, although I've toned-down the colour-coding that some people were doing. You're right about the box art not inspiring but I love the flamed "wood" panel decals...bit incongruous on a mid-size wagon...but ta for the info, I'll keep my eye out for the kit.

I remember the '37 built up nicely, it was a good kit. I'm going to try and give it a new lease of life along with a few others I built when I was younger.
With time to kill i ended up getting back into Kit Building after a 3 year break.
I'm no professional and have no desire to be, i just enjoy making them
Since May i've built a MkIV which i have named appropriately.
An FT-17
And An A6M2 Zero
Currently working on a Japanese "Pete" Seaplane
Then next up is a Lancaster (Never Built a Bomber before) , followed by a French Saint Chamond WW1 Tank
I'm happy i got back into this hobby!

Spark are utterly brilliant, even the 43rd scale ones. I have heard rumours that they are actually built versions of former Tenariv resin kits; looking at the ones I have (one of which I did build as a Tenariv kit) I am inclined to believe this.
I know they're a bit pricey, but then what isn't these days? Seen the prices of the latest Minichamps?.

Bringsd tears to my eyes looking at that. Proper racing cars, where the driver was exactly that and you could see them at work
OK safety has come on but all the automation and telemetry has sucked the soul out if it much like VAR in football
No computer games like today Boring a f**k now first to corner 1 is the winner 90% of the time
Bring back real racing, pit stops, tyre changes and races of a decent length check back on the distances ran in the mid 60s
AND you got a full days racing as well as the GP

(Best bit, you got an "any bits missing?" ticket in an Airfix kit - with a bit of creativity, you could allegedly grow a whole new one for just stamps & envelopes - not that anyone would take advantage, of course. )
