Shame there's so little of the Revell kit, too much missing to cobble something together. Hey ho!
I don't know, you could recreate a Horry Barnes Stock Car:

I'm looking to do the same with Fujimi's terrible 280ZX (Horry also raced one of them).

There's money to be made in models of Banger Racing cars:

Interesting to see, certainly looks effective.

I definitely need to build a few short oval racers, as a reminder of all the time I've spent at Foxhall, Swaffham etc over the years. Got that Horry Barnes stock car to do, a Mk2 Escort rally car to convert into an early '80s National Hot Rod, and various things to turn into bangers. So far I've got as far as buying a few lengths of plastic box section so I can make up the cages and ironwork.......

My understanding is that the base models are quite expensive.
The closing and demolition of the Arena Essex has triggered a fair bit of nostalgia and interest in these models.
Models of the cars of Boxer Jack, Alan Trickett, Retard Roy, Suicide Squad etc. are probably most sought after.

My son has suddenly taken an interest in the bangers, I've promised him a trip up to Ipswich once we are back to normal.

I've got way more bodywork than needed for a model of Horry's stock car then, just a roof required and tin foil for the rest!

Those modified diecasts on ebay are ace! Love the parallel to the full-size world that an old toy's final incarnation can be as a banger....plenty of Capris and XJs 'saved' by the vendor for such a fate...

Always enjoyed an evening meeting at Wimbledon. Was every final at every event billed as the "World Championship"?!

A fairly simple and cheap Tamiya model, but it came out quite well

That does look good, I shall have to do a few of those once I get the compressor and spray booth up and running.

I have a very handy, small, folding mobile spray booth. I use Halfords rattle cans and Tamiya (and some ancient Humbrol) brush paints.

Nice one! Just the same colour scheme as I did when I built mine back in the '90s.

I think it's a great kit, recently bought another one to enjoy building again someday.

I have a few 1990s kits I've bought primarily for their engines. This Corvette donated its LT5 to a '67 Impala but it seemed pretty decent so I thought I'd do a quick, simple build rather than have yet another box on the shelf:

Ford Caymen Blue aerosol paint and clearcoat all from Halfords, wheels from an Aoshima kit.

Another one of those very simple and arguably quite crude Monogram Datsun 280Zeds...last of my secret-santa Christmas stich-ups from my model club 'friends'. Rushed the paint which has split but it was never going to be a serious project...quite happy with it's appearance though, misted Tamiya met orange up from the sills over red to give it a bit of a pop. No lacquer or polish..black trim by felt pen....no sweating big or small stuff but very happy to play with a bit of colour to achieve another four plastic wheels on the shelf that pleases me.

Hey GG, that's worked out really well. Are they different tyres on the kit-supplied wheels?

For such a basic thing I think it can be made to look very effective - after building my yellow racing version last year I've still got the red road car to do something with at some point.
