That isn't a balance pipe it's the fresh air feed from the blower fan in the engine compartment, air is forced through this into the heat exchangers and the hot air passes into the cabin at the end that faces the base of the rear seats.

Just finished Airfix 1/48 Bristol Bulldog.

I’m really enjoying these new tool kits. This was much more tricky than the Lysander though.

I hadn't known about the Lysander.

I've just read up on it. On the face of it, very old looking, but quite advanced.

It's very interesting that it was used to drop agents and recover agents and airmen from France.

That Lysander looks brilliant, its nice to see one in camouflage rather than the ubiquitous SOE black scheme.

I read Hugh Verity's book, 'We Landed By Moonlight' regarding SOE operations in France, and found it fascinating.

This time the Aston Martin DB5 in 1/43 scale.

Not my best work, but as I said it’s only a few hours of effort.

Nice kit for a beginner though

I built that a few years ago - must say you've done a much better job than I did!

It was a really old tooling and not very nice to build either.

My mediocre 1/12 Tamiya Dax, had to be done in the Tamiya scheme.




All straight OOB with no aftermarket. Nice simple build, even comes with a 1/12 helmet and appropriate decals.

The story behind this. My lad was having some OO Hornby Locomotives fixed at the local model shop. During collection today he spots this in the back room and asks "How much?" He was given it for free as an apology for taking so long to get his locos back. The signature on the top looks genuine, and I get a nice model out of it.

Here's a couple I finished recently;
First Tamiya's good old 1/35 Tiger, moulding stamped 1989! Always wanted to build it and bought it probably 16 years ago. Pretty much out of the box with Tamiya self adhesive zimmerit and a few bits of Eduard etch, engine added hence the cover open as I have maintenance/ammo loading crew and tank crew to be added at some point, together with an Opel Blitz truck.







Next, Airfix 1/72 Wellington 1C; again out of the box and not weathered, the wings in the kit were badly warped but to Airfix's credit they supplied replacements within a couple of weeks.
I've been trying to build a few models with a personal connection so I did this as R1374 of 150 Sqn. RAF, based at Newton, Notts in 1941:







The pilot, Freddie Savage, was my father's cousin.

Great job on the Tiger, I particularly like the fading and weathering on the camo scheme and the zimmerit looks really good. Unless I'm much mistaken, the markings are for 1. Kompanie of the 101st Heavy SS Panzer Battalion (s.SS Pz-Abt 101) in Normandy, July 1944.

Thanks, the markings are just one of the three supplied with the kit, can't remember which now tbh!
