You could paint a few different panels in different colours, like control surfaces, ammunition covers, inspection panels etc. then if you think the contrast is too much, overspray with the mid tone to blend everything a bit. I did this with an Academy Thunderjet with Alclad, and it looked ok.
The aluminium went on well. Impressed with the AK Real Metals. I went all one colour for now as it’s all a bit new but depending how robust the finish is (I assume it’ll ‘take’ masking tape on top once cured?) I might do what you suggested and pick a few panels out in stainless.
I also assume these paints will be ok with decal softener and stuff? I tend to use mainly acrylics which I’d put a coat of clear gloss on first but I don’t think shiny metal colours respond well to a clear coat over them?
Nothing special but I finished off this vintage Tamiya kit (from the era where they came with the fittings for a motor) whilst watching the Monaco GP. Sadly the wonderfully 80's Recaro seat decals and stripes did not survive the test of time and fell apart.
I did get right to the end only to realise the headlights were missing. I checked the ebay listing and they weren't on the spruce, but the bags were sealed. So either the seller pulled an elaborate scam by resealing everything, or I'd been an idiot and thrown it away with the bag, so was going to have to dig through the rubbish to find it. Guess which one turned out to be correct.

The quality from Ebbro was excellent. This is the second Ebbro F1 car that I've done (the other was a Lotus 88) and I was impressed by the fit and finish of both - better than Tamiya.Had this kit but sold it unbuilt, seems it was the right decision.

The decals supplied with the kit looked good quality but I didn't use them because they were simply wrong for the car - it wasn't a scheme that Lotus would have used in 1982, hence I went after market.
The nose looks correct to me. It probably looks a bit pointy because I left off the front wing as I preferred the wingless look and Lotus would have run it 1982 in both configurations.

I managed to get some 1:24 Camel decals for it by Tabu Design, bought online from Spot Models in Spain.

In theory you can! The rear clam covering the engine and side pods should be removable but I glued it in place to improve the shut lines, even though I did all the internal detailing.
It's really the build process that I enjoy and once it's on the shelf it's finished and I move on to the next one. I think it's best to decide up front how you want to display it - body on or body off.
If I was doing a much larger scale (say 1:12) I would want to display the internal detail but in this smaller scale it isn't worth it even though I build, paint and add decals to the parts that won't be seen.
