Quick update from me.

Picked up my 605 last weekend, all in all its better than the average 605 out there. It has a few little niggles but nothing too serious. Body isnt too bad other than a little lacquer peel on the front grille. Interior is in lovely condition, will post some pics once I've given the leather a clean.

Here is a pic though taken yesterday.

Hi,

It's brought back some memories reading this thread. When I was a kid my Dad had a Peugeot 604 Sti. It was a brilliant car. He used it as a daily driver for years and eventually had it restored to showroom condition. He parted with it some years later, but still claims it was the most comfortable car he's ever owned.
Inspired by this, back in the 90's I started hunting for a 505 V6. I found a mint condition manual in black. Only problem was I was a bit strapped for cash at the time and couldn't quite afford it. So in the end I bought a gunmetal grey 505 GTi Saloon. It was a brilliant car and I loved it, but the gearbox eventually decided to give up and I couldn't afford to fix it. If only I'd hung on to it...

You've got me thinking now.. Ebay.fr here I come.

My dad used to have a 604 Sti as well, seem to remember it being in a light gold colour.

If a good one should pop up I would be tempted although its a 505 V6 that I'm still after smile

Our family car from 1986 until about 1994 was a 505 GTI estate in dark metallic grey with dark blue velour interior. I used to think it was such a beast at the time, and have many happy memories of being driven around in it whilst my dad blasted out Dire Straights on the stereo biggrin Dad had a minor mishap in it in 1994, and it was written off - only to return as a local taxis. Last time I saw it was about 9/10 yrs ago now, so i'm sure it's long gone. Dad had a 405 Executive estate after that, and now a 308 SW...loves his pugs!

My neighbour a few doors down still has a 505 GTI Estate on a 'G' plate, and a 505 GRD Estate on a 'C' plate. Uses them both regularly and can't get enough of them by all accounts. Speaking to him the other day he said that there is a guy in Swindon that breaks poor ones, and ships good ones to Africa where they love them. Not great news for you, but thought i'd share all the same!

Good luck with the search smile Nice 605!!

I still have a thing for old Pugs. I'd love a 505 saloon with a 405T16 engine!

Hi poster,

Am Ikenna, from Nigeria. I work and live in Abuja, the federal Capital territory of Nigeria.

I own a 505 V6 5-speed manual which I bought and imported from France late last year. It arrived January this year. Its the most wonderful car, the most wonderful Peugeot i have ever driven and own. One can only understand this until you drive one. MY BABY, as I refer to the car, its the greatest thing that ever happened to me.

I just bought a 1990 605 V6 12v 5-speed manual last week on 27/10/2011. Its about 800km away from where i stay. Though i travelled to where the car was been sold, inspected and test drove it before i purchased it. Am making arrangement for it to be brought to me soon. It was so cheap!

I intend to be using the 605 V6 as my Daily Driver, while my BABY will be pampered and be used occassionaly as a fun car! Though the 605 V6 12v also was performing fine when i test drove it, but never close to the impressive performance of RWD powered PRV, THE KING OF LIONS, 505 V6 5-speed manual!

Ikenna.

I had a 505 V6 auto about 8 or 9 years ago. It was gunmetal grey with a dark blue cloth interior and was a fantastic car. The most comfortable seats I've had in a car, waftable but easy to get sideways if you wanted. It was almost immaculate and I paid £200 for it! I went to see a rusty XJ6 and the guy also had the 505 so I bought that instead. Sold it after a couple of years to a guy from Kent who had quite a few 505s (7 I think) and wanted to make a V6 estate - I believe all the V6 were saloons.

I'd have another tomorrow.

505 V6 never had a SW or an Estate. All were Sedan/Saloon.

Hey Wedge/poster, your newly purchased 605 V6 24v is really imaculate. Yours is cleaner than mine. Mine, the paint on the body has faded. Its also red like yours. On mine, one of the Fog light has broken. In fact, yours is much better than mine on the exterior. I will have to do paint job on it someday.

The road handling of 505 V6 is quite outstanding, better than all the cars i have driven in my life. It has a diferent special strut/shock absorbers, cross bar, etc different from other 505s(except 505 turbo). In fact, every mechanical in the V6 front , which all differ from other 505, makes the car handles like something I cant explain, with a powerful matching engine: ZN3J, the 2nd generation 2.8 even-fire PRV V6 engine, which has a balance shaft that eliminates any form of engine vibration, even at high rpm. One good thing about the ZN3J engine in the 505 V6 is that the more you acclerate or the higher the acceleration, the smoother the engine sounds. The engine torque/speed at low rpm is amazing, so powerful or high that one dosent need to accelerate hard to gain speed, unlike other performance cars that need high rev to perform. RWD makes the PRV in 505 V6 perfect. Most especially, 505 generally has a good road handling qualities. But 505 V6 road handling is , in fact i have no adjective to use to qualify that. Its an amazing car Peugeot ever produced. Am a proud owner of it! The pic of my 505 V6 is on my profile image.

605 V6 is handling is not much far from the 505 V6. After all, they both have the same engine: ZN3J (even-fire 12v PRV) 2.8 V6 in 505, ZPJ (12v) & ZPJ4 (24v) both 3.0 V6 PRV engines in 605. Their bottoms are all the same. Only the 24v differs from the other on the top. They are all indestructible engines, as long as their is oil in them. Though, some of the early 24v in 605 suffered from cam wears. So beware! When i test drove mine, i was impressed, so much that i was wondering how Peugeot produced a FWD that is so good to drive & handle as RWD with the benefits of FWD. I really give kudos to Peugeot on that. But, it was so obvious while i was driving that it still couldnt perform as good as 505 V6. It just couldnt. 605 handled well beyond my expectation that day, but 505 V6 handling is something else!

Ikenna.

Hi there, my 605 is a 12V auto not the SVE24. Those are near extinction here, only 2 left in the country on the road I believe.

My V6 12v is common by comparison, there are 'only' 24 left on the road in the UK!!

I'll post up some other photo's at some point, its clean although not immaculate. Interior is near new condition though!!

There are only 14 R25 Monaco's in total left on the road. Think you may have a similar wait to me!! Only one auto left and the rest are manuals.

Was that the brown one/ gold coachlines? Pretty sure there's one runs about Portsmouth often, as does a brush-painted 30 TXE Injection. I'll try and have a word with the owner if I see it again.

Blimey, really? Fortunately for my little treasure hunt it's a manual I'd prefer. My Dad had one for a short while before he imported a Turbo. All I remember are the big comfy seats and (at the time) space age dash. I was pretty young though. The Safrane a friend's Dad had just wasn't quite the same.

Yes indeed it is. I'd be hugely grateful for that, chap thumbup
