Im seriously considering a DS5.
I have a DS5 and would recommend it. It's a lovely place to be and really stands out from the crowd. The main bug is the harsh ride but the positives of everything else far outweigh the ride quality. I think they will always be a rare sight in the UK, most people are desperate to sit behind a BMW or VAG badge. I had the hybrid version of the DS5. I loved it.
The shape is intriguing - a blend of hatchback, SUV and MPV. Like nothing else out there.
The cabin is - in my view - one of the best cabins on the market, in any sector. It's beautiful; a work of art. And it's genuine quality; not just cheap plastic with a nice textured surface. VAG I'm looking at you.
For example, everything in the cabin that looks like metal, is real metal. Not sprayed plastic. The leather is superb, especially the watch-strap trim.
Having said that, I would go for the non-hybrid version. The gearbox in the hybrid version is jerky, and boot space is very compromised.
It's another example of Citroen quirkiness that will probably get canned once the company CFO finds out

They look so good in white or brown with the white or truffle leather.
I wonder how crazy i would have to be to spec a new one!
The new/facelift ones have lost the central control buttons in favour of a touchscreen, in my opinion it makes the interior look less impressive than the original. I'd go for an almost new, last of the run pre-facelift models, although the depreciation is horrendous. I bought mine just under two years old with 30k on the clock, at almost half the list price of a new one..
I have a 2.0 HDI 6-speed manual, personally I like it. I've heard bad things about the autobox being jerky so decided to go for the manual, it's no bad thing. I'd recommend DSport as a trim level, this gives you electric leather seats, adaptive Xenons and the HUD on top of all the DStyle standard options, in my opinion it's worth the extra cash. The HUD is really excellent in all weather/light conditions, and the Xenons are particulary good at looking around bends. The electric seats have more adjustment I believe than the manual seats, making it easier to find a better driving position. All in all I think it's a stunning car.

How nice is this one?!

Oddly doesn't look like a touch screen?

There seem to be massive discounts on the DS5 at Citroen dealers. When I was thinking about ordering a new one I was offered 25% off list without even trying. List price 33k GBP, opening offer from the dealer 25k GBP...They look so good in white or brown with the white or truffle leather.

Thread resurrection - I'm considering buying a Peugeot 508 estate. After owning several VAG/BMW's over the years I'm considering moving away from these.
My next car WILL be an auto! At 51yo I'm now fed up of changing cogs myself, but it's also got to be a bit pokey and big enough to get woof's travel cage in the back.
I have seen some RXH's for sale on AT for £7-8k - they look spectacular but are these a money pit or should I look at getting the HDi versions? I also quite like the idea of not paying much in tax to the chancellor so £30 a year in some models sits about right.
What model/spec should I look for to get or avoid should I go for one?

Another year gone by and even more depreciation for these 508's
They have now "pinged" on my <£3k budget shed radar...and they are increasingly starting to make me think about putting to bed my obsession for constantly searching for a late model SAAB 9-3 Sport wagon as my answer to the leftfield estate choice, I need to shake this idea a SAAB is still the answer, but an ageing defunct brand I don't think is the answer anymore, I've scratched that itch in saloon form, so I need to stop it!
Anyway...these 508's looks very good VFM, great spec, great comfort, great engines and that panoramic roof my daughter would love in this car...so can anyone shine any light on these in 2022?
Mainly the 1.6 over the 2.0 diesel, I am leaning towards a 1.6 more so, I'm not in it for the power just want to completely clamp down on costs where I can, I just need a car that can sit there at 70mph in comfort and serenity, quite a few high milers about at this budget, so shows they can get there.

Bought a second hand 508 RXH today. Depreciation has done its job, so it's pretty cheap for a comfortable estate with some toys; a fair bit cheaper than equivalent Volvo and Audi models.
The ride seems quite refined to me, but my expectations are set by years driving a Hilux and a Chimaera, so take with pinch of salt.
Mid range poke is OK if you press the magic button. It's no rocket ship, but feels like it should be able to overtake reasonably briskly.
At low speeds the only way I could tell when the diesel was running was by looking at the dash. It cuts in and out seamlessly.
Primarily bought it for wife to use. She wanted somewhere nice to sit, room for sprog and sprog's kit, very low CO2 rating as she is a lentilist, bit of extra ground clearance and 4wd due to location of house. Boxes all ticked. Couldn't find any other car that met those criteria.

How was it for you?
These have bobbed up because very similar criteria for the family bus, so I'm interested in yours and others' opinions
