Some pics of my 2012 megane 3 sport tourer 1.5dci. New wheels, tinted windows, black mirror caps, and wind deflectors...and a good clean! A really smart looking compact estate.

Some recent pics of the R5GTT strutting its stuff at Glemham Hall
last Sunday...

The car had to be resprayed not long after I bought it, in 1994, but the
most pleasing thing about its latest repaint is the return of the OE green
tinge. Renault introduced a new paint system with the R5GTT P2 and
ever since then there has been a complimentary, yet contrasting, tinge
to all of its dark metallic finishes.

So, is it Tungsten grey or Tungsten green?

Regards,
Steve

I had two of these back in the day.

A red one with GT Tuning parts and black one with a trick engine and hybrid that I tracked.

I remember one day I had an brake bleed nipple snapping as I changed the fluid the day before an MOT.
So I swapped the Identical calliper over from my 309GTI, and stopped in a Peugeot breakers on the way back from MOT to replace it.

A lot of parts crossed over on these French cars.

After almost 12 years away from a little french hatchback, I have returned with what was a dream car when I had a 1.1 106 and then a VTR.

I picked this up last week and while I was looking for a 106 GTI, this one was just so honest and original I had to do a deal. Hope to see many of you out and about over the coming years.

Nice. It’s a shame you hardly ever see Saxos now. I’m guessing they were bad for rust? (Plus all the ones that got crashed.)
They were all the rage when I passed my test in 2007 but could never afford one and the insurance at the time.

Exactly, there are around 153 VTS's on the road and just over 1,000 on SORN (according to howmanyleft.com) which is mad when you think about how many were made. A lot do suffer from rust, luckily this one is rust free - just have to keep it that way!

Nice. Out of interest what rpm does it do at 70 in top? Some say these had the 4.29 final drive and others say the 4

Went out for a quick run round the block and at 70mph it was indicating 3.5k rpm

But it looks so good! cloud9 I'm barely driving mine at the moment, and my wife's Kia Sportage is the perfect palate cleanser for when I do go out for a drive.

I really miss my RS250. I definitely don’t miss:
Worrying if it will start or the random battery charge/ drain issue has reappeared.
If another door sensor will fail so keyless entry stops.
Alarm randomly going off when using keyless entry.
Gearbox whine getting any louder?
Having to replace more of the front suspension components.
st sound system.

But it did look amazing and drove so well.

I know what you mean, I'm £5k deep into mine in two years and now have it booked in for a new A/C compressor at AW Motorworks next month... But I absolutely love it and still can't find anything that I'd be happy to replace it with.

I'm not too far behind you. 3200 in 18 months so far. Cambelt, oil breather and a/c condenser next. Also have one of the hundreds of bushes/bearings on the front suspension causing a noise when pulling away or stopping... Probably another £1200 right there!

Does look good though.

So, in the just under 2 years, I've had to do the following as part of general maintenance and repairs

  • Gearbox rebuild
  • New DMF
  • New clutch
  • Clutch damper delete
  • Rear calipers rebuilt
  • Discs and pads all round
  • Turbo off to fix snapped bolt
  • Force recirc (didnt like the DV it came with)
  • Wishbone balljoint
  • Thermostat
  • 4 new tyres
As above, it still needs a little bit of work. My previous Focus ST required a driveshaft and replacement springs and shocks in the 7 years and 40,000 miles I put on it. Renaults are crap. But boy does it drive well.

Very similar to my list too. Your suspension knock could just be the drop links/anti rotation links which I think are quite common and cheap to replace.

I did a bit of long term storage maintenance on my favourite car over the weekend. Got it uncovered, checked over, started up, over-inflated the tyres, and then reconnected the trickle charger and covered it back up for the winter. No filter needed for the photo, I do always enjoy taking the covers off and standing back to admire it.

However, looking at this photo does remind me that I need to do my garage in Scotland like my one in Surrey!

Stunning mate. And wearing the carbon wheels. #legend. I’ll get one one day. Just waiting on the right one coming up.
