Black yes

Last I touched one up, just some black touchup from halfords was fine. Need to wait till you've curbed all 4 and then get them resprayed, or wait till it's 6-7 years old and the original paint starts falling off or wears through to the raw metal.

My wife kerbed one of my satin black tibors. Used permanent marker as touch up. Worked pretty well actually.

Assuming you have the 18" wheels, any satin black should do the job.

I refinished all of mine with some E-Tech paint and it worked a treat. Just make sure you rough up the original coat enough for the new paint to stick.

Sold my 275 Cup-S to webuyanycar last weekend. Sad to see it go, as its so capable and such a good all-rounder, but time to move on.

I really did. Considering it was 50% of the cost of a Civic Type-R, Leon 300 etc, it was a total no brainer. I can see myself buying another in a few years for trackday fun. Going to be a tough act to follow.

Thanks again for sourcing mate

I've sold mine now, but these are cracking cars. I had a 275 Nav with Cup Chassis. I can see a lot of guff written about how the Recaros are an absolute must have, but I actually found the standard cloth seats were pretty good - comfy on a long journey, but still decent lateral support and took some of the sting out of the Cup Chassis. Ditto the 18 inch wheels, I wouldn't like to own a Cup Chassis on 19s.
The handling is sublime, the steering as good as can be expected on any modern hot hatch, strong and feelsome brakes and a storming power delivery that just gets angrier at the top end instead of tailing off as in some other turbo engines.
The near complete absence of torque steer, the way it pulls around corners. Could it handle more power? Probably another 40 or so bhp with ease.
I never had any problem with the gearbox, thought it was very good. The Sat Nav is a genuine licence saver (e.g. speed traps) as much as a navigation device.

Now the not-so-goods, the headlights are the most feeble fitted to any car I've owned in the last 20 years. The stereo is puny and tinny, even in the Nav which is supposed to be a more powerful one than that in the Cup-S.
The rear visibility is absolutely crap, the rear camera is a necessity rather than a luxury.
The ride is borderline too firm and harsh on bumpy roads, it isn't even that great on motorways, but I cannot criticise too much as it is such an outstanding handling car out of the box and you have to make some compromise for the track capability. Just that I think as a daily drive you'd be better off with a Golf GTI or something else.
Engine & exhaust note, well I never drove one with the Akrapovic so cannot comment on what that would add to the party, but it just isn't that inspiring as standard. The shriek in the final 1000rpm before being beeped is at least a bit interesting.
Was it Mike Goodwin who said somewhere above that the joy in these cars is all about when you are pushing at 8/10th or more - I concur.

P.S. If anyone wants a spare 18 inch Tibor alloy in black then PM me.

I'm a newbie here. Just took posession of a flame red Cup-s with Ohlins (wasn't looking for those but happy to have them) and yes I've adjusted them to recommended road settings.) Cloth seats, which will undoubtedly be more comfortable for me but obviously dont look as good. Previous owner optioned the nav, which is handy and for reasons unknown it doesn't look as if it's seen a wet road and it's only done 1600 miles.

Anyway. It's got a drink problem! I'll live with that... First impressions? It deals with bumps on my regular roads in a way that the Fiesta ST (with moontune) couldn't. Nothing difficult about the Fiesta being thrown off line a tad occasionally, but the Megane seems to absorb it and float over it. Very good. It's very comfortable for me. The Fiesta was just too small in the seat - I'm a biggish lad and that was the number one issue with the Fiesta, an otherwise highly recommendable little car.

It's my first time with a mech LSD and the hook up to fire out of a corner is superb. I note that you need to be ready with your steering!

The engine: Can I say that it's very effective if a little characterless?

Anyway, I get what everyone says about a hard ride but I honestly think the Fiesta was worse and I loved that. This is my daily commuter on B roads so I'm on my own in it, plus a little running children around. The stereo is awful - might do something about that soon.

While I'm here: the rubber window trim at the rear of the rear windows stands a little proud, like it wants glueing down. Anyone seen that before? Is there a suitable glue?

The mk3 is quite compliant even on standard shocks the ohlins are (I'm told) a step beyond that so it's not surprising. You've got a car sat on several grand of hardware developed by a major suspension manufacturer rather than some £200 oem shocks.

Try fit a panel filter and you'll get a little more induction noise and might help with the lack of character a bit. Personally I think compared to a lot of it's peers it has more character as many of the current batch of hot hatches seem very sterile in a world of piped in engine noises and uber flat torque curves. A remap also helps, as I always found stock it feels like it's being reigned back in just at the moment it wants to get up and go.

After a brief stint in a Fiesta ST I agree that the ride quality is shyte.
The engine, whilst a little character-less can make a good sound, I've got a Milltek non-res on mine and it sounds pretty good on boost. (The tone change when it comes on boost is addictive!)
I'm a bigger lad too, and having had the Recaros I can say they're massively comfy, and a worthwhile option.

I also had the same issue with my White 250 I have now RE the rear window pillar rubber thing. Cleaned it up and superglued it down, not come up for 6 months, even after sustained pressure washer pointing directly at it at fairly close range.

Well me and the 275 have had quite a few miles together today and we're bonding nicely. Mostly wet today but that's a good thing in my book, for finding the limits of grip and how the car behaves. I absolutely love the feeling of connectedness and the weight of the controls. Feels like a very planted car. We did about 22 mpg having a little hack around some B roads in North Essex but I've just been here and there being gentle and it'll do 29/30 if I stick to the speed limits. I'm loving it, and it isn't a car that was too much on my radar. At the moment I'm thinking this is very good value for money.

I average about 19 driving back roads to work.

I do absolutely abuse the car.

When I picked it up it did 42mpg and after fitting wider pilot supersports did 38. Does 36 to 38 on a run now.

I think the cars need tracking setup every year. Mines not been 100% for about 6 months now I really need to make the effort to go get it sorted.

If you don't mind me asking, what did you get for it? (I am torturing myself as I am looking for a 265/275)

With the ohlins on full soft (20/30) and without the rock hard Bridgestone tyres, it's not too bad on 19s. The ride is busy but never hurts you. If someone had a set of 18s for sale I'd consider it though.

The akrapovic really improves the sound of the car even at low revs - loads of attitude and character. Pops and bangs are delicious when you get the hang of how to provoke them. Putting the rear seats down makes things even better, although just removing the parcel shelf makes a big difference. Exhaust redefines the car.

I think I'm a little tall for the recaros. They are tremendous on twisties but I get pain on long journeys from lack of lumber/thigh support. I can live with it as we have another car for treks.

I average 27 mpg but you can save fuel driving it in normal mode when you're just covering ground - reenables the stop/start and idles 2-300 rpm lower. Less tempting to floor it constantly too.

Whole car feels special in a way most cars just don't any more.

Did you fill in the gaps and sand over it properly? Mine had some really bad marks on them, but once you've filled them with wheel putty, sanded and sprayed you couldn't tell them apart from a brand new wheel.

Best plan is to respray the whole wheel, you'll never get a good finish with satin if you only respray one part.
