That was my planned upgrade route as well. Either an E92 or a 997 Carrera (4)S. Originally I was going to buy the M3 but I didn't quite have the funds to run one at the time.

I have known lots of people who have had e90/92 M3s and they all say they needed a few modifications for them to enjoy them so not surprised quite a few people a left disappointed with them in standard form.

I went 997 Carrera S after your Meg. They are great out of the box and don't require the fettling that an e92 will. That said, an e92 with good suspension and a proper BBK will be awesome. Neither will,be quicker than the Meg down a twisty B road though. I'm considering going Ohlins on my 911. Theynwere sunlime on the Meg.

The chap you sold it to, sold it to me to afford an E92 M3 haha. My thoughts were that I will be able to get 4 cylinder turbo engined cars for a few years to come. Getting a naturally aspirated flat 6 or V8 is getting harder to do.

Hope it's still going well. Think you got a bit of a bargain there.

Long time stalker, first time poster here. I've bought Mike Goodwin's old car today, part ex'ing a 428i Gran Coupe auto for it.

This is my second RS Meg - I had a Cup-S from new (BG16WJZ where are you now?) and I actually had a test drive of this car as part of the buying process.

The BMW and the Meg couldn't be more different and I'm sure most people think I've taken leave of my senses. I don't care though, I'm back in a go-kart instead of a bus and loving it!

I'm quite tempted by this one

https://www.pistonheads.com/classifieds/used-cars/...

doesn't have the trick exhaust or dampers, but seems a good example.

101 months and 2 posts now!

I've spotted 1 or 2 coming up for sale with the Akrapovic exhaust in the last week or so appearing in some unusual places (car supermarkets etc). I think that's because a lot of these were done in lease deals which are finishing around now.

The ones I saw all had 19" wheels which I didn't want. Some of these may well have the Ohlins dampers, but because they're not being sold by people who know the cars then the only way to tell would by to look yourself. Possibly

Had a look for photos btw, they are all one of it on my driveway so nothing exciting, all the ones I have worth looking at are on my Flickr I guess..

Thanks Mike, it's good to know it's spent some time in good company! I don't think photos can do the paint justice, it's so vibrant I let out an inadvertent swear when I saw it yesterday. One thing I meant to ask you, you've mentioned earlier in the thread about a mid box chop. Did you ever get around to this?

Never did the mid section. Drop the rear seats down - that was fine for me in the cabin. I think with the mid section gone you go without that whoosh sound which I really liked.

Flame Red NNP is brilliant - in sunlight its like fire and at dusk its like its dripping wet.

crappy phone photos...

ive purchased a new toy if you fancy going for a blast one day.

Yeah that belongs to Nick. He's certainly looked after it well!

You can always buy the Akrapovic from RSTuning if you really want it ;-)

Hey dude I can’t access my PMs. I got a brilliant deal on a golf clubsport S. in terms of the R.S. I’ve barely driven it but what a car. I love my R.S. products and wish I kept my R26R but this feels as special as that but with much better build quality. We can go out for a drive soon if you fancy?

A clubsport S! What a weapon, that thing must be rapid! I'd love to go out for a drive at some point. Went out in the borders a week or so ago for a proper hoon and it reminded me why I enjoy it, after so long commuting through the Edinburgh traffic.

Good to hear from you dude. TBH I have not driven it much at all but it just feels special and such a drivers focused car like the megane. Have you played with the Ohlins much yet? Had any issues with it?

No issues at all, and I stiffened the Ohlins for some track insutruction back in October. Otherwise I just leave it in the B road setting.
