Hi Squirdan

Having had 2.5 replacement bonnets under warranty I really don't want to have to buy bonnet number 4 in full myself, I noticed that you have some heat shielding / "reflection", what do you have exactly and has it been successful on your car and others?

Any information would be greatly appreciated!
i cant help with details as it was done by a prev owner, but appears to be self adhesive gold leaf (or synthetic), its pretty thin and stuck straight to the bonnet. certainly the carbon is A1 and no clouding at all so I would say it has definitely helped. Mclaren F1 styley
Aaaah ok, thanks for getting back to me!

As I have a relatively "fresh" one I really want to try to stop it happening again!

Can you still get replacement bonnets from Renault under the bodywork warranty? Thanks S

I'll try and find out from either former owner or detailer what the gold reflective film is all about.

I had my last one in September 2015 for which I paid £687 towards (£1,718 total) but haven't done many miles since and I doubt i'll get another one discounted etc!

I THINK mine might have had 4 bonnets including the original, it has a stage one but no track days, the last one had chips along three edges plus the milkyness in front of the driver!

Hi Dan, and interesting to see you are now the ex owner of an R26R ... you bought my white 911 with the 2.7RS engine back in 201.

Having a little look around at the moment and was quite taken by limited edition Clio 182 Trophy, but then stumbled across the even rarer R26R ... any view on this car advertised on Auto Trader https://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/201... that appears to be good value (on the face of it but have done no real research in to these cars as yet). With a little research and a viewing this car looks an OK buy. Nice of only one owner. The service history looks a bit light for a ten year old car, but there's plenty described as 'recommissioned' e.g all fluids and belts changed, then advertised.

It has no Titanium Exhaust but it does have the roll cage and also Climate Control, not that much of an option per se, but electric folding mirrors come with that so quite handy.

No R26.R number in advert, would be good to check it out a bit.

The recently offered pearl white one that hung around because everyone seemed scared of the 'no decals from factory' statement, e.g it must have had paint, was purchased by someone who contacted me about them in general, turned out to be a fine car and he is very pleased with it. Sold for around £19000 with Ti Exhaust, Roll Cage and 38000 miles.

Now only 75 R26.R remaining in UK according to DVLA.

Thanks for the reply and I did read elsewhere that 50% were black and thus non black with casge and Ti Exhaust were making 'better money' !!!

Climate whilst a nice option does seem at odds with the lightweight ethos ..... is there a recommend 'must go to' website and forum for further reading and research ?

Still also looking at 182 Trophy to go with our 200RS.

Only 95 were reg'd according to DVLA and colour mix is based on 159 cars. There's no real register so to speak, so would be better to buy on quality than a blue or grey one that's been hammered or silly modified.

Climate doesn't weigh more than the A/C that's standard.

Good luck with your hunt.

I’m seriously contemplating getting another one, but would steer clear of black ones. The paintwork is not the best.

Does the roll cage create issues with insurance on these?

I think as the cage is technically a factory option it should be declared. Would be interested to know what companies owners use.

I declared factory from new Titanium Exhaust and Roll Cage and am insured with Need To Insure on a limited mileage policy. Mine is unmodified, it would be interesting to see where people insure modified cars.

Saw that too. It does look good value but it's not exactly flown off the site. I still don't see these doing anything much more than slowly increasing in value. They won't drop though.
