I have read that you can only get a fraction of the oil out, that you can get half of it out, that it's a great idea after 70,000 miles to change it and that it's oil for life so forget it.
Has anyone with this 2.7 engine, C5 or C6 changed the oil and if so what is the score please?

One of the landrove magazines (landrover monthly?) had a feature on this, (same gearbox) you need a special machine

I've changed it for a customer who was having overheating problems when towing,he said it was like having a new gearbox.
i drained and then refilled it 3 times to dilute the quantity of old oil present.
I used ATF D111-MV and got through about 13 lts all told.

From memory the oil was about £80 and i charged him 3 hours labour .More to cover the time taking for a shortish run in between oil changes than the time changing it. Not bad for what he says is like having a new gearbox. It's a pretty simple job to do,he had overheating issues when towing and the change was jerky.
Have you had a look on the C6 owners club it's a mine of information.
