I realise I am about six years too late, but I have always fancied a Clio V6.

I would like to buy a phase two example, but I also intend to use this car on a semi-daily basis; including parking it at the station etc.

I don't need a car everyday and I don't do many miles.

As these cars seem to be appreciating, can you please let me know if I am mad.

Go for it! Really like these, although I'd be reluctant to leave any car parked up in public all day - no matter how old or shabby it was

Buy a higher mileage one and you'll be fine.

Don't buy a super low mileage mint car as you'll pay through the nose and putting mileage on it will hurt the value.

I saw Renault UK's car on Thursday, phase 2 in liquid yellow with super low mileage, it was amazing.

Virtually all the external panels are eye wateringly expensive. Not sure I'd want to leave it in a station car park relying on the kindness of strangers.

It's a special car, it'll cost you in all sorts of ways to find it damaged.

Personally I'd buy a Ph1. I still think they look awesome.

Cheapest on eBay is £17.5k https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/222438842869

I don't think you'd lose anything on it.

Maybe the back end?

Definately go for it - used mine as a my only car for at least 2/3 years, before picking up another car to split the miles/add more smiles.

Would agree a low-miler will give you some value-related anguish, so going for a mid-high miler that's been looked after; cambelt service on time, etc., may be a good way to go.

Definately join v6clio.net to get advice and access to cars for sale you may not see elsewhere.

Happy to answer any other questions you may have.

Thanks.

I have already joined v6clio.net.

I am hoping to buy something on condition rather than mileage.

The only issue I am seeing is that with average mileage of around 40K, you don't pay much more for an example with 20K.

hehe

Overhyped. The phase 1 is more 'pure' IMO. The phase 2 is more watered down.

IMHO and I've bought and sold about 20? Ph1 is 230BHP and poorly built by TWR (look at build quality and welds etc.) The Ph2 was built by Renaultsport, put together better, nicer styled and 255bhp. Neither is that quick, but they look the part.

As for buying one at the current prices to use as a hack/station car, I think that boat has sailed unless you want to spend the current prices on such a car just to get covered in fallout.

Ph1 has been as low as £7000 that was the time! I bought a black 255 for £11000 once.

I'm definitely biased but the Phase 1 is by far the better looking car to these eyes.

I would also never, ever leave mine at a station. Panel prices are madness, if you can get them at all.

Not many Ph1 in blue, I bought one for Renault East London once around 2003/4.

The car looks awesome dom.

If money was no object, it would be a bit of phase two action in deep bronze for me:

Lovely cars. I owned an '04 black/gold Mk2, with a K-Tec rear box which was lovely on overrun, for a while about 10 years ago. As others have said, not the fastest car but certainly still fun to drive and it always got looks & positive comments wherever you went smile

I didn't lose any money on mine either back then. Even back when I had mine over the space of a year all the car cost me was the running costs such as fuel, tax & insurance as when it came to sell it went for the same amount I paid for it,

Any excuse for a couple of pics hehe

He sold it about a year ago, I was very tempted to buy it!

An ex mk2 owner here (see my profile for pic), a fantastic car and I will own another someday, but it's not a daily commuter/station car IMHO

When I owned mine it was "only" a 20k car, and even then it used to get all kinds of attention/pics taken, it would be worth 28/30k easily now

I'm tempted to upgrade the 172 cup to a V6 in the future at some stage.

Keep us posted OP.

Oh, and go on then, those in the know, enlighten us on just how eye watering these panels are? Sounds ominous....

I am pleased to confirm that I am now the happy owner of a Clio V6.

I'll get a proper thread up in due course.
