Hi Jonah, I do not want to scrap the vehicle as it is actually in sound condition. Yes, there may be a 'stigma' attached but many times cars are restored after being written of an they make great examples. The actual damage is minimal, hence why I was always planning to repair. To scrap it just makes no sense.

As it turns out though, I am actually looking to sell this car, as I really cannot see myself having anytime to restore it in the next few years and I would like it to go to someone keen to get it back on the road. I will be placing an advert in the classifieds soon.

The issue is with restoring is the hours spent online researching, the fuel to and from the shops, the parts mount up to a fortune eg car mats £50, refurbishing wheels £300, tyres, engine sorting £1500, bodywork £££££ and so on

I note you say your car was a Sorrento Green one with sunroof

Have you seen this HPI Clear one that looks mint

A restorer will take thousands of pounds too and finding parts will be a nightmare

I reckon restoring your car will cost a lot especially if you sub it out they will want thousands too

I would far rather repair my own 205 than start with a restored car as the quality of the work cannot always be verified. I am very particular about the condition of my cars and a Cat C/D car would not put me off so long as the pre repair damage can be evidenced with detailed photographs. So many older cars are classified without the damage being significant.

Our cars are now getting old and may of use are rather attached to them. A refurb can turn into an almost full rebuild to a better standard than when it left the factory. I bought a Cat D TVR 350 Targa a number of years ago and it was better built than when it left the factory. Needless to say it was still not a patch on the 205 so it didn't staff in the garage for long.
