How would a 50/50 split had ever worked with tiny Caterham?
I assumed for a cash injection & help with development a small number of Alpines, perhaps 10% would have rolled off the production line & then be rebadged as a caterham with subtle differences.

So I'm giving some serious consideration about chopping my 997.2 in against a pure edition. It seems Alpine has decided to use the Porsche option model and charge a fortune for options so I'm trying to figure out what are "must have" options.

So far I'm looking at:
Alpine Blue paint.
Forged Wheels
Sports Exhaust
Bigger Brakes
Side logos
Telemetrics
Parking Sensors front and rear.

This adds around 6.5K onto the base cost which is just under 15% of the RRP and well over my usual 10% of RRP limit that I impose on myself. Does anyone have the standard hifi and if so how is it. I only use DAB in the car so I'm not fussed about spending £1100 on the Focal setup.

I wouldn't bother with the upgraded sound system and DAB as neither are game changers. They are fine though. The infotainment system is pretty average though.

I'd be interested to try one in 17 inch wheels and no sports exhaust. Not sure the big brakes fit the smaller rims but I would spec those if they do.

The parking sensors are worth it though only for the rear.

The blue paint is expensive - it does look good though but I wish they had solid colour options other than white.

It is a fantastic car though if you can look past the engine. It's not the selling point but I think it's better than the one in the 718s.

I have a Premiere Edition but a few members on here are more than happy to share their experiences.

There is a review in Autocar of a basic Pure with only 18" rims added, it still got 5 stars.

Apart from the paint (Alpine Blue is a lovely colour) I don't think any of the options are must have's though.

Sports Exhaust is ok but not sure its a must have though.
Rear Reversing sensors are useful but hardly necessary as its such a small car.
Larger Brakes are probably only really beneficial if you are going to track it.
The Fuchs alloys are lovely rims but not sure they are worth extra, although I prefer the version now available to the ones on the Premier Edition.

Keeping it basic has the advantage of making it even lighter, which is what I was planning if I hadn't managed to secure a Premier Edition.

Mine at goodwood breakfast club on Sunday..... managed to give the big cars a run for their money as down the country lanes they can’t get downforce or keep the tyres hot whereas my alpine was on fire 🔥

Top Gear inferno was unfortunate. Your car looks great at Goodwood.

My A110 Legende arrived in March and I absolutely love it. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend it to anyone... other than they’re about to launch the 300bhp S version at Le Mans next weekend.... It’s certainly a step up in comfort from my VXT, if not quite as raw/exciting an experience to drive hard round a circuit, but then that isn’t what this car is about!

What was your reasoning that you ordered a Legende instead of a Pure... My girlfriend will use it as her daily car and ordered exactly the same one in the same colour (with black interior and the PE Fuchs wheels in black). She took every option, did you also take the Premium Focal audio system (with subwoofer)?

Her car will be delivered in 3 months...I'm curious what the launch will be in Le Mans this weekend...and if it's awesome...maybe she can still change her order, but I doubt it.

I picked up my A110 Pure in January, has been amazing so far.

There's currently 6 colours to choose from; 2 blues, 2 whites, 1 grey and 1 black. You can go on the french configurator and see the colour and wheel options. Don't think the UK one is working yet. I've heard that most of the cars have been ordered in the Alpine blue
75% - 80% are Alpine Blue.... In Japan they always need to be different..and there are two Limited editions (with nothing special): https://re-how.net/press_releases/31257/?utm_sourc...

Franzino, my wife refuses to drive the VX220 as it is too track focused for her taste and relatively uncomfortable from a passenger point of view. So I took the path of least resistance when ordering the Alpine and specced up the Legende instead. We have the brown (my wife calls it Merlot) interior with blue stitching, which I has actually grown on me and always gets positive comments. Prefer the matt carbon on the Pure though.

I've had my Premiere nearly 9 months and it's been outstanding. I've down a 7 hour trip with 2 short stops and it's supremely comfortable. Never had so many people ask me about a car. The uprated model is being announced tomorrow night. Depending on prices and spec and what mine is worth I could well be interested.

love the dark blue .. mine would be that and the chocolate leather plus Fuchs forged alloys
I'm with you on all of that!
I hated the dark blue. In the flesh it didn't suit the car IMO, it looks flat and dull. Reminded me of the cheap option dark blue Ford Sierra's used to come in.
In the flesh, this car has a lot of subtle changes of body contour, which in some colours just disappear. To my eye, black is the worst, and I don't think many will be sold, nor was I keen on the pearlescent white one. In the sun, there is no doubt in my mind that the Alpine Blue stands out when side by side with the others. It is not just history that makes people pay the extra dosh for the blue. So as I live in the South of France, I went for it, but it was a close thing between Alpine Blue and the flat white as it will be a little rarer. If I lived in the UK I would probably have gone with the grey, as I always found grey sports cars (eg Astons), to suit UK climes. The dark blue? Just doesn't shout "look at me aren't I pretty" the way the Alpine Blue and the white do.
Seen a Black one around Farningham. My first one on the road.

Very cool car.

Yes. Shame it couldn't finish off Eddie Jordan and banish him from TG finally.

Had my Pure for 3 months now and still loving it. Even living in France where the cars are a little more common than the UK, I get lots of attention. Car park photo shoots have ranged from an old guy hardly able to walk wanting a photo (perhaps he had a 60's model), to this week a mother rushing up to me with her teenage daughter who wanted a photo.

In terms of extras, I like the rear view camera for car park manoeuvering, and the side logos look good. I don't have a sports exhaust simply because I find switchable exhausts a bit tacky in a "look at me" sense (but that's personal). The one thing I question in hindsight is the 18" wheels. On rough roads, of which there are many in my area, the tyres do transmit a lot of road vibration. I suspect the higher profile tyres on the 17" wheels may be a bit better for road use.

Having just read the spec for the A110S... I'm glad I didn't wait to be honest. Not quite the step change in performance or looks I was expecting. Appears to be more about chassis/suspension tweaks than anything else in order to make it more track focused. Suspect there is an even beefier version to come in the form of a road going GT4.

LOL I was exactly the same. I prefer the matt carbon of the Pure also...but it is my girlfriend her money and her daily car. Ofcourse I want to drive it also; I'm rather tall and she is shorter, so we needed the height adjustable seats instead of the fixed bucket seat. She also likes "black" leather more then alcantara and thinks alcantara looks cheap. She has 3 things she want on her sportscars; small size in traffic, automatic transmission and heated seats.

At the time (in 2018) you could also spec a Pure with the Legende comfort seats...and in the end it would make the Pure equally expensive then the Legende. But I thought it was better to take the Legende and not spec the Pure to the same price level. If one day she wants to sell it..it is more obvious that a Legende is more expensive and a bit more comfy then a Pure. A more expensive Pure with comfort seats would be confusing for future buyers. A couple of months a go Alpine dropped the option to spec comfort seats on the Pure...they are now only available on the Legende (standard fitment) and not on the Pure or the new S.

The wheels you have on your Legende are the wheels she will be using in winter. For summer wheels she has the Premiere Edition Fuchs wheels (black-silver). She wanted a silver A110....would indeed be awesome I think. But that colour is not possible; so she ordered a grey one. Which would be my choice also in this case smile

Well that’s one way of getting a different angle on things!!
Still can’t believe some people suggest the price is high. It’s a hand built aluminium sports car and the money they saved on using an old stereo controller was spent where it made a difference.
