Is it just me or does this look really rather good?
Frameless doors, space age interior, svelte looks, and it's actually smaller than the outgoing model, which must be some kind of world first.
Anyone seen one or even driven one? My local dealer doesn't have one, and has no idea when they will.

Hi, yes, I've driven one, at the UK launch and I thought it was rather good, although I would say that.
The only cars made available to us were the top of the range GT 180 HDi models and it was the usual thing of driving the competitors in lower spec or presumably with over inflated tyres etc. The 508 did stand out though. Peugeot are trying to pitch it against the 4 series and C Class and although I probably wouldn't quite put it against those cars, not spec for spec, it does feel light years ahead of the rest.

As German cars get uglier and uglier, I have watched French cars getting more and more stylish.
This looks really good although reliability may remain an issue.

Not sure why..? Peugeots generally score ok for reliability, slightly better than average, much better than most prestige brands.
I looked at a 208 GTi but 2 friends who works at a multi franchise incl Peugeot dealership told me to walk away or become acquainted with the workshop...LuS1fer said:

The GTi is always going to be more temperamental than a mainstream model due to its higher state of tune. But if you look at reliability surveys by the likes of JD power and warranties direct then you'll see that whilst Peugeot may not have the best reputation it is not backed up by the facts. Based on the surveys it can be expected that the 508 will be more reliable than most of its competitors.
I may be biased, I drive a 308 GTi and apart from a self inflicted issue with the brakes it has been totally reliable over 23k and 2 years.

The bit that goes wrong on a Prince is the timing drive, which was BMW design responsibility. But weirdly, people associate the failures more with Peugeot and not so much with Mini and the other BMW products that have that engine... Also, I think on later ones this was recitified. Anyway, back on topic, I think the estate looks even better:
