That's good to know, and bodes well for future cars if the system can allow that kind of sound if developed from the ground up with a GPF (at least until the death of the ICE)

I'm a bit torn now as I've seen a couple of images of the interior of the facelift Megane and the infotainment is a massive step up in quality and graphics, but they have removed the manual option...
From what I've seen, the infotainment still looks pretty shonky to me. I wouldn't let that sway you one way or another.

Is it really? It certainly looks a lot more high end than the old one, but having not used either I don't know if it's an improvement operationally.

I'm not massively keen on the exterior facelift so will probably stick to pre-facelift in that case.

It's the latest Easy Link system which is far better and slicker than R-Link 2.

Well its been a year of ownership and a year approximately since I last viewed this thread, so I thought it about time I posted some photos.
No real complaints about the car. Very pleased how it drives, when you push on, but I do miss 4WD during UK winters. That said the LSD is pretty impressive off a roundabout and the FWD definitely seems alot more tolerant to a heavy foot in lower gears compared to all other cars in its class.
Still can't believe a car at this price point comes with full alcantara, a functional rear diffuser and 4WS.
I dont see what the moaning is about on the reviews with the 4WS, maybe us meer mortals just can't feel the issue, I just find it pin sharp and direct very much like a 4WD hot hatch or saloon (I've had both). Maybe its something that rears its head if your real aggressive on a track, but on a UK B-road its fine.

I was concerned about the cup chassis because the ride in my previous Focus RS Mk3 needed to wind its neck in a bit, but the Reno Cup is fine and seems to come into its own as speed builds. Whereas the Focus would try and pogo you through a hedge.

All in all a good purchase if you can see past the Reno badge. Which has been my biggest issue to be fair.

And hydraulic bump stops. And mirror bore coating a la GT-R.

That's where 4WS shone the most in my experience, incredible turn in, genuine neutrality and helps contain the front tyre heat/wear.

Beautiful car Scott and nice pics (is that at Beachy Head?)

Lovely car Scott. Followed on Instagram.

You're not helping though, trying to convince myself to stick with the M2 for another year but the thought of chucking the Megane around some twisty roads is tempting. I think the pace and ability will be more in line with my own ability, whereas if I'm honest the M2 is probably a little too quick for me.

How's the Bose sound system, any good?

Luke.

Someone posted earlier in here about how muting the sat nav mutes the stupid speed warning chime. Tried this but doesn’t seem to do the trick. Anyone managed to do this and if so could advise how they did it please? Thanks
Just figured it out on mine - you have to set a location in the nav then when it’s got the directions you should have a menu from the nav screen that has a mute button. Turning the volume down on the spoken directions didn’t work but that did on mine. Thank god it was doing my head in!

The car is great fun and you can be quite brutal with it into and out of corners. The brakes are amazing and triggering the hazards on braking for a corner has become part of the game.

I've looked at M3 recently and a friend has a M235i which I've been in. But I can sense his nerves in corners and he was shocked how the under powered Megane left him way behind on a tight twisting hillside road.

I do fancy an M3 (its perhaps a bit more grown up) but I think with my driving style in a FWD and having driven Subaru for 18 years and a Focus RS Mk3 for 2, I think the BMW would end up backwards in a hedge all too quickly being RWD.

The Bose is a good system. I dont wind it up often as I like hearing the car. But its alot better than the Sony in the Focus RS but not as good as the B&O that I had in an S4. That was an amazing sound and I'd never buy an Audi without it.

No not me mate.
I thought perhaps you were referring to Subaru forums and tuning as I used to supply remaps about 10 years ago and the name Scott.T and Polarperformance is smeared through scoobynet. I still get questions occasionally 10 years after hanging up the tools.

Probably not going to help you here but I owned an original M2 for the best part of 3 years and have recently got a Trophy (I have three kids so needed a bit more space) and have to admit that I have much more fun in the Megane than the M2. The Megane is more playful more of the time and much more of an event at lower speeds whereas I felt I had to push the M2 to get any magic out of it. On a twisty bumpy country road the M2 would feel a bit overwhelmed, the Megane just gets better.

Any ideas why the side mirrors might have stopped folding when the cars locked? I used to just walk away listening out for the beep and the mirrors folding, but they've not been doing it recently.

Is there a setting I might have changed?

No, you're not helping at all wink I'm surprised about your comment about the Megane being more of an event at low speeds, I feel like the M2 does this pretty well and I expected the Megane to be a little bit harder to live with in that scenario, so that sounds positive.

It's never a big concern for me when buying a car, but is the Trophy ride comfort as atrocious as all the reviews make out? How does it compare to the M2, which I think is pretty compliant considering it's abilities?

I don't have a Megane, but if you've adjusted a mirror recently and left that mirror 'selected' on the switch panel, it may have disabled it. That's assuming it's a three-position switch with a neutral central position. Worth a look?

I find the ride comfort absolutely fine. OK, so its a bit firm, but you soon get used to it. Get in other cars and they kind of feel broken once your used to the RS.

Make sure the door switch is on auto.

That’s a Kadjar but should be the same.

What's the best way of saying this. I have more opportunity to cock about in the Megane without going silly fast and it makes me smile more. The car is constantly busy and involving which is the complete opposite of the mk7 Golf GTi we also owned. I remember getting quite frustrated with the way the M2 drove on quite a few occasions - the harder you pushed the M2 the more flaws seemed to be exposed. Hot hatches suit my driving style as well, the Megane reminds me a little of my 306 Rallye (the best car I have ever owned) in that it is happy to indulge in a bit of LOO should the mood take you.

Yep - its firm and pretty busy at lower speeds but get some load into it and I find it okay. In the Megane I don't wince like I used to when the rear wheels of the M2 went over sharp speed bumps.
