I've stumbled across a red one for sale cheaply. All paperwork pretty much from new after 4 owners, 98,000 miles and other than faded red paint, almost pink in places now, it's in good order. Clearly not a fast car but light at around 900 kgs i believe and 'lively' shall we say.
£700 seems good for a car with 11 months' ticket? Quite fancy it as a bit of a novelty and they are certainly rare as he's teeth now. F reg, 1989.

'89 will mean it's a mk1 and will most likely have a manual choke. They tend to rust from the inside out but it's certainly worth a punt at that price

Rare now and a lot of fun. Bite their hand off for it unless it's rusted out.

I have agreed to buy it next week. Tiny bit of rust on the door bottoms and i noticed it has a k and n circular filter rather than an air box but is stock otherwise. Wheels were refurbished a little while ago and look nice. £700 seems good.

I had an ax gt years ago when I was about 20.
Loved that little car, it was huge amounts of fun.
Ragged it everywhere and it never complained.
Unfortunately it kept being broken into so I had to get rid! Post some pix up when you get it.

I was looking at these last year as a little track car (Llandow is my local track - not suited too big, powerful cars and very abrasive, costs a fortune in tyres on the Porsche) - anything worth having was 3-4 times what you're paying - you can't lose.

Interested in seeing some pics of this when you pick it up also OP.

Will make an interesting little purchase, especially for that price.

Light, responsive and cheap.
Even the 1.4D felt quite brisk (in an era when diesels were generally turd slow)

Mechanically tougher than you might expect but there's not much metal around you. Short wheel base = lift off oversteer = potentially painful lesson.

Cracking wee things. It's twin, the 205xs, was my first car.
