I've no doubt that the A110 is significantly better on fuel, but in the £50-60k+ sports car market mpg is almost an irrelevance to buyers.
While it's clearly not the b-all and end-all, there does come a point where it irks. The previous 3.8 GT4 was oft criticised by its owners for poor economy - low twenties seemed to be where it was at in the real world. The 4.0 has even worse emission figures, so likely to be worse than the 3.8. You'll be hard pushed to get below 35 even with spirited motoring with A110 and 38-40 requires hardly any restraint. It may not be a fact that itself would stop you buying the Porker, but the A110's economy does add to the (my) pleasure of ownership. For a weekend hoon car , I wouldn't care, but for a daily I am much more aware.

Apologies, the engine is from the Megane. The 7 speed box is a Getrag 7DCT300 found in various Renault/Mini/BMWs, which is rated to less torque than that found in the Megane. Happy to be corrected if I have any of this wrong.
How is the engine "from the Megane"? Do you really believe that they disassemble a Megane RS to get the engine block for each A110 they build?

Though to be fair it's obvious you're just in the owners' thread to push buttons with silly "parts bin" comments.

Not sure there's a need to be defensive on the engine. I see it as a win for the future that they've been able to take a well performing 4 cylinder turbo and make it work in a genuine mid-range performance car. Everyone else will have to follow or skip directly to Hybrid/Electric.

Some people may not value that as we transition across the industry but they got it sounding right which is important. Alpine did a better job of leveraging the engine than Porsche did with their flat 4

Come on now, let's not be silly.

The M5P is used in the A110, the Megane RS280 and RS300, and a version of the Espace. Bespoke to the A110 it is not — and at the volumes they make these things, that's probably a good thing.

Not true. Straight from the Porsche UK site:

718 Cayman GTS 4.0 (WLTP)*
Consumption (WLTP)*
Fuel consumption combined* (model range): 25.9 – 28.0 mpg

Can't seem to lay my hands on WLTP consumption figures for the Alpine, but based on WLTP emissions of 163 (Alpine) and 247-230 (Porsche own figures), that suggests the Porsche consumes, and emits, 40% more on a good day.

You're quite right, it's 25.9 to 28.

In fact the Alpine is 38.7, versus 25.9 - 28 for the Porsche. Quite a difference. (This of course doesn't mean those of us with Alpine's fill up less often - the tank is tiny)

I see the 38.7mpg on Parkers also, but no clear WLTP mpg figure on the Alpine site. Impressive fuel consumption though for a sports-car of any kind, especially if you can get into the 40s on a run.

Getting into the 40s on motorway runs is pretty much a given if you want to keep your license. I did once try to keep strictly to speed limits on a boring run in the hope of seeing 50 to the gallon, didn't quite manage it - an indicated 49.6 if I remember.

Do any A110 owners use a phone mount in their cars? Interested on views on what seems to work best and where people affix them.

If available any photo's would be great.

I don’t at present, but have been thinking about buying the Alpine one when it’s goes in for its service next month. Not sure if it’s any good but probably worth a punt at £16.

“Quad Lock” works brilliantly in the small non opening door window

New set of Pilot Sport 4’s being fitted on Monday morning. As a lot of discussion has been going on regarding A110 vs 718 costs, this full set of oem spec tyres has set me back £506 fitted, the last set of ‘N’ rated P-Zero’s fitted to my 718 cost over £1200! When you also factor in that the first service was £350 ish for the Alpine but £500+ for the 718 the savings keep coming. Fuel wise as my 718 was only a bog standard 2.0 there probably isn’t much in it on real world mpg.
Finally whilst the new boots are being fitted I’m also having the Life110 Sports Road geo applied. Really looking forward to trying this, will report back my thoughts!

Sensible sized boots is a huge benefit in my eyes, world has gone mad with 20” wheels and mahoosive rubber these days. Please do let us know on the geo ?? Fascinated to understand if it’s night & day different on stock running gear, or just a subtle change in feel.

Will do! On the boot size, I’ve just done the weekly shop no problem, bag it the front, bag in the rear with beer & wine tucked either side, the space isn’t too bad just the small aperture that is a bit of a pain sometimes.
Ps. I’ve not really found the Alpine any worse on space than the 718, just a bit of planning ahead required wink

Agreed. The fact that the front boot release is on the passenger side is also irritating - an electric release would be a boon. Likewise if you or your OH are short there is actually quite a bit of space behind one or both seats - accessing it is a bit of a pain though.

Looks good. Quick question, once the quad lock mount case is fitted can you use other wireless induction chargers?

Ha I meant wheels & tyres when I referred to “boots” smile !!!

But yeah no issue with boot capacity here, we regularly tour in our ND mx5 ... A110 has more space so not an issue at all
