I bought a PE from new, I wasn't one of the very early people to book one, I put my name down when the car was released and there was a rash of great reviews, I then managed to jump up the queue a pick up a cancelled order.
I was never a fan of Alpine before but the A110 was everything i was looking for something lightweight, efficient, comfortable and fun to drive and above all big enough for someone 6' 6'".
The latter ruled most of the competition except perhaps an Evora and Cayman.

Mine's not a daily I save it for the right journeys, mainly into mid wales where it really comes into its own, such a smile inducing joy to drive.

Here is a link to some photos if anyone is interested. https://flic.kr/s/aHsmsAS3md
Some great shots there, well played!

Hi all

I'm keen to buy one of these soon, coming from a Lotus and Porsche background I think they offer everything I'm looking for.
I have been looking at the cars for sale on Autotrader and wondered if anyone knew anything about any of the 3 Premiere editions currently for sale?
They seem to have been on the market for a while, I'd be interested to hear from any current owners if they wish they had gone for a Premiere over what they currently have or vice versa? Would you pick an S, Pure or Legende knowing what you do now?
TIA
Max

They all drive fundamentally the same so you won't make a bad decision. Personally I looked at used before deciding the values were so strong I might as well have a new one for a few k more. Was going to factory order a pure with some options but bought a showroom legende as it was near enough to what I would have ordered but came with a discount (not common apparently).

Aside from the S which has firmer suspension and a bit more power (though no more torque) the choice between the other models is just trim / gadgets / price-point.

As a daily driver I wanted the comfort seats (in brown - goes nicely with the blue) plus reversing camera, mirror pack, sports exhaust etc so opted for a Legende. And those Legende wheels smile But pick a car with the extras that are most important to you...

For a Trackday or occasional car maybe a Pure or an S might be preferable, depending on the price-point.

I test-drove an S and it was noticeably crashier over bumps and ridges at town speeds, which would annoy me and the rest didn’t warrant the extra cost.

Get a test drive. You’ll be hooked...

As has been said the S has significantly firmer suspension which you may or may not like. The extra power of the S isn't really noticeable. Personally if I was doing more track work I'd go for the Life110 mods rather than the S.

The PE is just a heavily specced Pure with a plaque and only a choice of 3 colours. There are no options so all PEs are the same bar the colour. The only things it hasn't got are the front parking sensors and the rear view camera that are available on the other models.

The only fundamental differences between the Legende and Pure are the seats and wheels.

The Pure has buckets the Legende (so-called) comfort seats. I say so-called because I find the buckets more comfortable - more supportive and the alcantara cushioning is a bit softer than the leather of the Legende. But the buckets may not fit you or you may need the extra adjustability of the Legende seats. The Legende seats are optionally heated - the buckets can't be - but since the cushions are alcantara that isn't much of an issue. Don't worry about access - it just as easy with the buckets.

The Pure comes with 17" wheels as standard, the Legende with an 18" wheel unique to the Legende. A variety of wheels are optional.

The Legende has more kit as standard but there is no cost penalty in upgrading the Pure to the same level.

I did write a comprehensive buyers guide when in lockdown. PM me if it is of interest.

Bit tricky as I don't think it's possible to order the spec I have any more - 17s with heated comfort seats.

If it was still possible to have heated comfort seats in a Pure then I'd do that again. I'd have the mirror pack and the reversing camera, but I don't think I'd have the sports exhaust or the upgraded stereo - to me it sounds fine with the exhaust in standard mode, and I've barely used the stereo because I've not been doing boring drives. If commuting was back on the cards then the Focal would probably be worth having. And those two add a fair chunk to the price.

I wouldn't have an S; I don't need any more power or harder suspension for my driving. I wouldn't have a PE because the reversing camera is pretty much essential if I want to get mine into the garage - I've got about 5cm clearance on each side and reverse in. They will suit others though.

My biggest dilemma would be whether to have an Atelier colour - there's a lovely emerald green... Or the petrol blue with white wheels.

Thanks for the replies, some really useful information there. I wasn't aware the the PE didn't come with Reversing Camera so that is worth noting.
I had pretty much decided that the S wasn't going to be for me anyway but its useful to hear others opinions. And thanks to BCR5784 for the buyers guide, really useful.
I do need to drive one but being based in deepest Essex (Southend) and there aren't many round here. A dealer in Chelmsford has a Legende so I think I will take a trip up there to have a look.

Just a reminder that the sports exhaust comes with the sound pipe, so a sports exhaust car in standard mode is not the same as a car without sports exhaust, sound wise. smile

(am aware of one owner who wasn't aware of this, and is considering retrofitting the pipe to their standard exhaust car - could be a neat 'fix')

A significant point - I'm not really a keen fan of the (sports) exhaust in the (rather flatulent) Sport mode but the sound pipe does add a bit of character (to me) in Normal mode.

Ah - I think I knew that somewhere/somewhen in my brain, but had forgotten. Ta.

I've also been looking for a number of months now. The market is a mess. Last year I could have picked up a one owner PE with 2K miles for £43K. wasn't in a position to take that so now really pains me to pay more money for an older car with more miles and more owners. The PE in Blackpool is in for "prep" paintwork and wheel refurbishment at the moment!!!!! not had any info back on the others yet. Surprising for supposedly such a great car how many owners they seem to have gone through. I understand some were purchased as investments but those days surly have past.

Good luck with your search. Dealers are very hard to get hold of too which makes me nervous about the aftersales support .
Might just buy the FE Elise and be done with the Alpine thing for now. smile

I wonder if these high prices being asked for pre owned cars are really being attained? A car is only worth what someone is prepared to pay for it.

There are currently 53 for sale on Autotrader, so there is choice out there. Some may be advertised twice though.

There clearly has been an uplift in secondhand prices, not just in Alpines but in Porsches too. A report on prices in the US has said that reduced new supply has let to fewer discounts on new cars and a demand and as a consequence higher secondhand prices. Not sure how much the UK mirrors this - but I suspect there is an element of this.

Only 3 secondhand A110s on Pistonheads...

Elise is a very different animal and FEs don't seem (to me) to offer much over the regular editions. The FE 390 Exige does offer a lot of bang for buck, but again is an even more different animal.

AT is quite interesting, the majority of cars for sale are new. When you look at used there's normally only 5 or 6 < 50k. With such strong residuals new seems the way forward.

That's worrying when it's done less than 3k miles! Interesting if you exclude new cars or pre reg there are only 14 for sale on AT.
