They come up on the 205 facebook groups regularly and are usually pretty cheap. Guy near here sold 2 recently as unfinished projects for £700 each.

The XS is a great car. Its closer to the true Euro spec rallye than the UK rallye is. The UK Rallye is basically just a base car with stickers.

That’s the one

The one on eBay that went for £1200 looked ropey too though

Had to be a 3-dr not a 5-dr?

No I was wondering whether you’d be happy with a GT rather than an XS

If you're intent on getting an XS and there are no appropriate examples in the UK, once EU travel opens up you're bound to find one easily in France. Then you could drive it home, register it and even convert it to RHD.

Seems unlikely given their car scrappage schemes over the last 20 years.

Didn't realise they'd gone through their own cull. Shame.

Plenty of GTis for sale with the same silly prices as here. Maybe half a dozen XS for sale at any one time. That's for the whole of France

I also like the lesser appointed 205, driving a C-reg 1.1 GL

Great fun; nimble; small, had loads when younger and wanted to return to a simpler motoring experience.
(Also have many classics, moderns, and super cars)

No help, but this was my first/only new car.

15 minutes after picking it up some Muppet drove into the back at a petrol station.

Lovely car

Why an XS? Nostalgia? Friend used to have one in the mid 90's. Decent enough car. But not a classic surely.

I can understand a Rallye or a GTI.

Rallye for ultimate low weight carb fed.
1.6 for purity of GTI feel & original.
1.9 for 'muscle'
A proper French market Rallye or the lame UK market "Rallye"? The former homologation special had just over 100bhp despite only 1294cc, and wheel arch extensions, whereas the latter only had 75bhp and looked a bit cack compared to the proper one. I bet even the UK model is expensive now.
From wiki "In 1994 Peugeot introduced the Rallye to the UK market, it was available in three colours (500 white, 250 yellow, 80 blue) and was essentially a re-badged XT. It came equipped with black cloth seats embroidered with the Peugeot-Talbot Sport logo, the Peugeot-Talbot sports colours behind the front arches and over the back arches, as well as the same markings on the grill and tailgate of its European brother. It was powered by an iron-blocked 1360 cc TU3.2 engine with the same twin-choke Solex carburettor found on the earlier XS engine. It produced 75 bhp (56 kW; 76 PS) and achieved 107 mph (172 km/h) with a 0–60 mph of 11.7 seconds."

As for the proper 205 Rallye I've only seen one in the UK while at uni, owned by a French student. What a cool thing it was. Was only available in LHD european markets.
