Hi all,

I have an RS265 and I'm struggling to get hold of a genuine thermostat. I've tried my local Renault dealer, RDP & various other places and everywhere is out of stock. My local mechanic can't get hold of one either.

Seems that many others are also having issues getting genuine parts. I don't suppose anyone knows a place to find one? Clutching at straws but thought I'd ask anyway.

Cheers,

This one on ebay:
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/New-GENUINE-Renault-Spo...

Autodoc are really good & around 50-70% cheaper than UK based parts suppliers!!! But based in Germany & take 2-3 days to process your order (to ensure the funds clear!!) but reliable & offer a no quibble money back guarantee for £3 extra (this includes return postage to Germany).

Thank you for this.

Ebay one - I did see this but refuse to pay £50+ for a thermostat. My local mechanic managed to track one down for me, which is still rather pricey at £40.

Autodoc - I nearly went for the Gates ones, as they seem to be one of the most common non-OE brand

Car is getting sorted next week, thank god.

Good luck getting your car sorted.

R265 is very similar to the 2.0 engined mk3 meganes from that era. Only major difference I know of engine wise is turbo boost pressure & intercooler.

Some parts are harder to find than others as R265 was a low volume car.

I had a problem getting a wheel bearing for my 275 last summer. Had to wait a week or two for Renault to get one. Wasn’t ideal as the ZX6R I pressed into daily use also turned out to have a knackered wheel bearing.

Must be how I roll.

Avoid using autodoc for now! They cannot ship to UK due to covid19 in Germany right now. So your order will spend up to 2 weeks going to their shipper GLS Germany hub before being returned to Autodoc! Autodoc will give you a refund no problem but even that takes 7 working days so your looking at almost 3 weeks until you get your funds back!

Yep, just had an awful episode with one of their other brands of car part site. Sons car was off the road for 6 weeks waiting for a coil pack. They kept lying to me about it having been sent, received, about the courier etc

Count yourself lucky... I've been waiting on a window regulator from Lotus since 7-Sep-2020 with no known delivery date so my car has had to remain unlocked since then!

Sounds familar..... not sure why they bother taking orders from UK right now as they cannot ship here (more like they do not want to pay to ship here actually as other couriers ship to UK from germany just not GLS for some weird reason!) you would think someone somewhere would notice all the refunds!

Try ebay, breakers or Lotus independents to at least get a used one in the meantime!

Lotus are notorious for parts lengthy delays! Once kept me waiting for many months for an Esprit flywheel & clutch ( which was also mega expensive!). Great cars but too fragile & expect mind blowing rare supercar level parts costs!!

Tried everything! The part I need is something which always breaks on them so they're never available used frown

Plus it's not a shared part so I'm stuck with ordering from Lotus.

You tried Lotus USA or Lotus USA independents as those guys seem to carry a lot of spares (with hefty prices to match!).
