New Citroen c5x
Discussion
Hey everyone, i couldn't find many places discussing the new C5X but found this thread and just thought i'd share the latest on my Dad's order.
He placed an order for the 130 Shine Plus model at the beginning of March, he didn't expect it for sometime so hadn't been in contact with his dealer but last week he popped in to see if they had any news, they checked on their system for him and said it was scheduled to be built in July in Spain, they had no idea why not in China but it had me thinking perhaps because of the ongoing Covid situation in China Citroen decided to move some production to Europe? that's the only reason i could think of.
Just thought i'd pass on the info as it was a bit surprising.
Cheers!

Thanks for that, interesting. It will be the Stellantis Vigo factory.

Incidentally, don't know if you've looked at the press release from Stellantis or the YouTube walkabouts of the recently announced C4X which will only be sold as a BEV in UK.
Initially I thought this might be interesting, the C4 is a decent bit of kit, and the C4X is very much in the mould of the C5X in concept and only 200mm shorter as they've extended the rear and boit section. Plus ignoring the BEV side of things it has some equipment odds and sods missing from C5X, eg heated windscreen, heated rear seats two which spring to mind.
Profile very similar to C5X, except although the C4 is a hatchback, albeit bit too small for our needs, they've extended the rear of the C4X to cater for that, BUT IT'S NOW NOT A HATCH, conventional boot opening, completely rules it out for me. Perhaps a question of rigidity on extended rear?

I did see it. The C4X looks really nice IMHO. The rear looks much nicer than the C4. The whole car is better proportioned. I would not mind a saloon-type boot at all. The deal breaker for me is that it's BEV only, and I don't want that. I don't want to turn this thread into another BEV religious war but it just doesn't work for me right now.
Rigidity could be one issue. The other is that China apparently loves saloons, so maybe it's made with an eye on that market?
It's a shame it's BEV only because otherwise I could see myself in one.
Citroen really seem to have got their groove back, design wise.

Raptor79 - any update on your dad's order? My dealer still doesn't have a demonstrator or showroom car, and doesn't know when they will get one
Hi, sorry i missed your post.No update from my Dad's dealership on his car, i can't imagine it will be July now, he is getting anxious as his DS5 is starting to have a few issues but they've guaranteed him a trade-in price.
The last he heard a couple of weeks ago was one of the senior salesman said he was going up to Coventry to have a day getting to know the C5X, i assume all the dealerships are involved in that.
Apparently you can now book a test drive but our local dealer hasn't got a demonstrator in yet.
Will post any updates as soon as he hears anything

Invited to dealer Friday, fingers crossed. Going to check a couple of alternatives during week.
That's good news, look forward to hearing your thoughts. Still nothing to report here.Incidentally there's already been one price increase.
Had a look today. Car is embargoed, even dealer not permitted to drive it until a press event possibly later this week. Only a handful in dealers.
Impressions? Shine Plus PHEV. Simply being able to walk around, open it up, sit in it frankly not much more learnt than could be gleaned from YouTube. Disappointingly the rear end shape means that the boot space height and volume is in reality much more restricted than expected. Nice low loading height though, that was good. Stacks of rear passenger space. Seats were firmer than I expected from comments by reviewers, though they were the upgraded seats with massage and ventilation function. Seats in our C3 have more give. But they were still comfortable so, dunno.
Had panoramic roof, as always underwhelmed by these things.
Unable to have a play with infotainment but it's the same as in latest C4 and welcome many of the HVAC controls are proper buttons and knobs away from touch screen. Some other buttons low down to right of wheel on lower dash, heated steering wheel, control for seat ventilation massage etc, and a couple of other functions I forget exactly what. All the other controls, wheel, stalks, transmission selector etc as seen in other Stellantis models.
Seemed to be screwed together well though.
Still a potential buy, but it's that rear shape that perhaps turns it into not enough of an estate being the biggest question mark.

Many thanks for your impressions FiF
Still no news to report, definitely won't be July that's for sure! I notice now on the Citroen website when you place an order it says "Vehicle will be available for delivery between 10-10-2022 and 05-12-2022".
Wish there was a way of knowing if any dealerships down here in Somerset had a car in the showroom to look at.

There was an off the cuff comment that there were only 5 dealers in UK who had one.
Having said that the offer they promised to send faithfully on Monday has not arrived.
In other news, due to the disappointment about the very fastback rear making it possibly not quite enough of an estate have been considering other options.
Have always liked and had a few Volvo offerings. Problem is with those the expense, looking at thick end of 50k for similar spec. Plus really turned off by virtually everything being controlled through touch screen. Plus a 40kplus car where Android Auto and Carplay are chargeable optional extras.
Ignoring German offerings. BMW / AUDI / MB just because...
Skoda, Octavia / Superb are decent candidates.
Toyota can't get comfortable.
Then the other Stellantis offerings, Pug 308SW / 508SW / Vauxhall Astra ST.
Pugs are nice but not sure about the i- cabin so much, peering over that tiny wheel. Latter from VX ST looks a strong possibility, well spec'd, nice design and very competitive price. Nice cabin and controls, very well designed load space. Delivery Feb 2023 and if Germany has a production hiatus over the winter could be whenever.
Trying to get my head round thinking of a VX after all those miles in a diesel Astramax. Still were the fastest thing on the motorway though.
