New Citroen c5x
Discussion
Just spent some time at the dealer having another look. I've narrowed my next car choice down to either C5X, DS4 or Lexus UX...unless PH comes up with a better idea.
Things seem to have moved on a bit.
The quality of the C5X in the showroom was much better than the one I saw 6 months ago. Materials, fit and finish were definitely better than I remember. I was able to get comfortable no problem. Boot space is fine for my needs.
Apparently lead times are much improved. Dealer said that apart from Covid, the other issue was that the logistics company that Citroen were using to get cars to the UK was terrible. Cars were getting lost left right and centre. DS models were also affected.
They are now using a new logistics company who are apparently on the ball.
We looked at the Citroen UK dealer bulletins and according to them, if you order now then the car will be built in March and it's then roughly another 3 months to get to the UK and be delivered, registered, prepped etc. That estimate has an amber status, meaning "high confidence but there could be small delays". That seems reasonable to me.
That is for the 1.2 petrol C5X. Petrol DS4 is similar. PHEV has longer lead time in both cases.
For comparison, Lexus have quoted 8 months for a factory build UX, and Jaguar have said that if I order an XE they have literally no idea whether it will even turn up
I'm going to play with the C5X configurator and see what comes out.
Incidentally, the DS4 is but it's just a little bit small inside, especially in the rear, I'm thinking whether I could live with that because it's a sensational looking thing both inside and out and you can get some really nice options.
