I think the OP's question is more along the lines of, currently the EV and the ICE car sit in the same bodystyle segment, with different model names.
At some point in the next decade with ICE being phased out, they'll end up with potentially two models (with brand equity in both) sat in the same space.

Having had this challenge within an OEM I can tell you there's no easy or obvious answer!
The problem is that it's the legacy car that in most cases has the most brand value/loyalty, but when the transition starts to take hold, it begins to erode quite quickly. It's also always difficult to reposition a product after only one/two cycles without alienating the customer base.
At some point in the next decade with ICE being phased out, they'll end up with potentially two models (with brand equity in both) sat in the same space.

There might be a weird cross over generation of names.
numbers and letters are easy to copyright globabaly so you get a consistent branding in all marketsThere might be a weird cross over generation of names.
its less likely that it will mean something rude in some part of the world
