Good luck with it mate. Looking forward to a wee mini meet when you do.

As you know I've had a RS250 FF Cup, RS275 Trophy (stripped out on coilers), Mk4 RS300 trophy and now the Mk4 Trophy-R. For me the R is a decent step on and setting up the Ohlins for road a good bit softer rides way better than the std Mk4 trophy. When I had the RS300 I regretted selling the 275, but no going back now. I daily mine, although granted not a lot of miles and its a proper occasion when I do. You don't have to be going 'Mach 10 with your hair on fire' It's very rewarding at lower speeds that don't get you into trouble The other three I owned never gave me that feeling when driving. Although it's all subjective, as what I love about driving other may hate. For me I've found one that ticks everything I want. (including the carbon wheels wink )

Was great to chat to you mate. Hopefully we will get something organised soon when I find a car. I have just seen the CC YouTube video and then proceeded to look at the website. Yup the cars have historic provenance however being ex press cars they have all been absolutely spanked and won’t be in a mint condition that I want / expect. Looking at the description of them my feelings are proven correct. Hopefully this kind guy I’m speaking to will sell his car and I’ll be an owner soon.

So the minted 300 trophy R has fallen through so back on the hunt. Hopefully something will come up soon or I’ll be buying a M4 CS or mini GP3. Who knows.

I had a strong curiosity for the previous GP3

I have a funny feeling about Minis, I’ve enjoyed driving them a lot but there is an element of jewellery about them, by that I mean the nice interior etc

I agree mate. And the auto gearbox on the GP 3 might distract from the driving experience. Plus what looks like a non suited ride to our crap Uk roads.

I don’t want another 2 pedal car, unless it’s a cruising around kind of car or an SUV etc

What is the going rate for an R26.R now? I’d dismiss the newest car simply as I really dislike the looks but the Trophy R is most likely the pick of the bunch (better gearbox, not as old etc).

It still doesn’t stop the R26.R being the stone cold classic of the bunch and bring the one I’d want however!

Hi

The best ones seemed to be around £27k for a long time but last year I saw the first one I’d seen advertised at over £30k and that was at Contemporary Classics

I haven’t seen any R’s for sale for a long time other than the ex Renault cars on Collecting Cars, let alone exceptionally nice ones and I’m guessing that exceptionally nice ones will be starting with a 3 now!

For an exceptionally nice one I’d be happy to pay too money. I could pair it up with the original book pack of my old R26.R number 87

R26.R prices on their way up big time it seams. Still searching. Will to pay good money but some of the prices this year are farcical. Dusted of my old book pack and had fond fond memories of that car. Shame it’s in Japan now.

Hi

Yes I saw the one advertised at Contemporary Classics with 15k miles for £42k went quite quickly and there is another for sale with 10k miles for £48k

Apart from anything else / whether they are worth it etc, these kind of things are finished, there won’t be “better” ones coming so things like this have a different value now

Yes dude. I seen that on AT and it did go quickly. The black and red car currently on AT is just way overpriced. Four owners and it’s black. No doubt someone will buy it but for me it should be valued less than the white car that sold recently. That’s just me though. I know of a 275 Trophy R with silly low miles for sale but it’s never been serviced and it does not have the very important “ring pack” Renault NLA the parts including the ring pack brake discs. Feck knows what people will do when they need to change them.

A modified pearl one has just come on at POA

With this new value scale the black should be cheaper than the white, maybe the extra owners even out the difference in miles a bit!

I have had black / black for 12 years but I’d now prefer something like that crazy blue (racing blue?)

I contacted James who owns the white one. It sounds like it’s lived a track life however very well maintained. He seams like a nice guy. Has owned some proper tasty metal too. I’m awaiting more photos, information of the car. And I agree. Racing blue or the grey would be my choice. A unicorn will turn up sooner or later. I found a unicorn 300 Trophy R but funds timing was not right.

Watched that video a few times. Absolutely brilliant. Lucky guy. He needs a 275 trophy R to complete the set.

Hi

Another 10k mike black one coming in to Contemporary Classics

Does seem to be a different car to the 10k black one in the classifieds
