Hi

Another 10k mike black one coming in to Contemporary Classics

Does seem to be a different car to the 10k black one in the classifieds
Thank you so much for the heads up.

If this car had the Titanium factory exhaust I’d have Bought that. Looking forward to seeing the pictures though.

Nice, low mile cars have been making an appearance recently after a long drought!

You just need the spec

So I’ve found a Mk3 Trophy R with super low miles. But it is missing the SABELT harnesses, 350mm bi-metal discs and the light weight battery. Non of which you can no longer buy from Renault. I am tempted as it is an as new car but because it does not have the “ring” pack it puts me off.

Dont often see Redline selling older hatches. Usually supercars.

Did the Trophy come as standard on plain discs as opposed to the Cup cars’ grooved ones? I know it’s popular to put plain ones on for track use.

Not sure on the trophy but on the R26.R everyone swapped to the plain discs of the Clio 197 as not only did the lack of grooves mean less cracks but they were half the price.

Interestingly (or not!) That exact car was consigned to my dealership in Feb 2009 where it sat unsold for 4 months (we literally couldn't get the thing sold!, I was tempted, but at the price and the fact I couldn't fit my arse in the seats) until we traded it to another dealer.

Edit: Also interestingly, I just pulled up the original invoice, and the Climate control is on there along with the rollcage and Toyo R888 tyres, but not the Ti exhaust..

  1. 39 is one of the quite early cars, surprising as a lot of the early ones were snapped up-it tended to be #100+ that were sold off at huge discount when the financial crash started to bite and people stopped buying.
I recall an early number at my local dealership that sat in the showroom for 6 months +. When I enquired it was sold and built to order for a larger gentleman and it was waiting on buckets being delivered from France that were of a wider size.

I'd never, and never did hear of another one that had official large size seats (even though I considered the Sabelts quite a large size when compared with Recaro etc).

They really are, funnily enough I have both, it’s not as if I’m rattling around in the Sabelts but I can’t move in the Recaro SPG if I need to scratch an itch and God forbid you should need something from the front pocket of your jeans!

If you're going to actually use the car and treat brakes and batteries as consumables don't be put off

Standard Trophy R discs are perfectly good but no waaaaay are they worth the 3x premium over the Trophy/Cup S discs which are only 10mm smaller (and fit with the same pads/calipers), or if you want to spend the money get a better alternative. Also the Li-ion battery will die (mine did) and the replacement cost is around 800 bucks at which point you'll either buy a cheaper li-ion alternative or a standard battery anyway....

Harnesses though are essential in my book!
