You are following in a fine tradition of Bentley Specials and Special Bentleys, so more power to your elbow (and your car).

I am very much looking forward to seeing the finished project. Will you have it ready for Silverstone in August?

Ah, Silverstone.

Being a significant birthday this year I am taking my ARDS in June actually on my birthday!

So, it is possible that Silverstone will be my first race. I am doing the club 18-30 Motorpunk Track Day the friday before.

Gonna be a long and busy summer. I hope.

I hope to have a lot of the basic work done in the next week or so.

How is your project progressing, Paul? Still on target for Silverstone?

Quite a lot done. Most of the interior out, race seats and harnesses fitted, exhaust modified, suspension lowered and stiffened.
Must have lost about 2/300kg so far. Still loads to do.......

Unfortunately I can't do my ARDS this week because of my health - so I am hoping to do it in July.

I will be going to Silverstone, even if its only for the parade lap!
Also going to the BDC Concours at the end of June just for a laugh!

Pictures here soon.

V8FOU,

Could I buy the small chrome strut that holds up the centre armrest cover (or stops it going too far open). What I would call a "stay" as my son donald ducked mine?

A replacement was a tad overpriced ;-)

Why shorten the wheelbase ? is it to conform to class regs ?

No. Less weight and quicker turning.
there is an easier option to shortening the wheel base of a behemoth

Fred Revival.

I keep being asked "what about the Bentley?"

Well, after a gearbox rebuild, it has been sitting around looking a bit sorry for itself.
So I thought New Year is the time to go on a diet.

Started with cutting out the roof panel.

And prepped for glue

More will follow as the carbon fibre roof is fitted. 20kg saved there!
15kg saved from removing the (solid brass) door handles!

8kg of wire removed from here so far

Plus another 10kg of door lock operators, surplus ecu's, etc.

The key barels are also solid brass and weigh about 300g a go!

There is a load more wiring to come out and one or two more ecu's.
Further dieting will involve new brakes in alloy and the disc bells too.

I am hoping for 200kg this time to get the all up weight to around 17/1800kg. Not bad, considering it started at 2600 or so.....

I am making some plastic door buttons and also some alloy window frames to replace, you guessed, the solid brass ones. New Racetech dash coming soon too.

Definitely hoping for more updates on this and many more photos. Looks like an awesome build and curious to see how it compares to a standard Turbo R!
