In Car Telephone

I have just bought a 2004 Continental GT, and for the life of me I can't get the in car phone to work, I have got has far has getting a Nokia 6230 that fits the cradle but the car still tells me phone not available, Bentley and Bentley Dealers don't seem to know the answer to my problem other than tell me there is a system available than will solve the problem. Can anybody help ?

Try the dealer, the phone system in the 2004 to 2007 Bentley cars is so wonky I gave up on it.

I have spoken to Bentley at Crewe and a few Dealers, all to no avail, like you I think I will call it a day, thanks for reply

I use a Nokia 6100 and it works just fine. My car is also 2004.

That's interesting, does it fit in the drivers armrest cradle ?

I am going to have one last go at getting my car phone working, can you tell me what I need to do to download phone numbers on to the system. I can receive calls but can't dial out.

You need name/ph# stored on your SIM card as that is how rSAP works.

(Truth and sarcasm) Spend about $3k and upgrade the BT at the dealership, where it really still won't work well but you have the upgraded system.

Frankly, don't bother with BT in the car. You're not the first to complain and surely wont be the last.

Thanks for your help, updated system will cost £700 at the dealers, I would expect it to work perfect for that amount of dough.

Before you give up, I have just bought an 06 Merc CL to keep in Spain and this also came with a Nokia cradle.

The Bluetooth on the Nav unit is for the cradle only...the cradle should have a b/t button on it which links to your Nokia mobile (don't know if fixed or random code) You must link this with your mobile OUT of the cradle and have Bluetooth and audio Bluetooth switched on for the phone

Different cars I know, but maybe similar system.

Notwithstanding the shortcomings of Bentley in the telephone / BT arena - shocking put mildly!!

Have people just given up or have they resorted to "cunning methods" ?? There is a lot of solutions seemingly stateside, but here in 'we operate 9-5 Blighty' and having spoken to a number of automotive / audio "experts" they seem baffled as to a viable solution. I don't want Parrot as I have experience of it and thought the quality was poor in terms of calls and streaming music.

The stateside solutions seem to trundle down one of the following products:

All I am trying to do is stream from Spotify and take some calls - not asking for much

Additionally - anyone been brave enough to upgrade components of the sound system? I know my car is a 2004 but seriously, i'm sure it was better in my 1992 Ford Escort with aftermarket. The Bass, Middle, Treble settings adjusted to death - the DSP settings with "effects" all tinkered with and it just sounds flat.

Any experiences??

Ureka I have now got working phone in my car, thanks to WIGHTGT pointing me in the right direction with regards what Nokia Phone works, thanks to all that posted on the subject. My next project is to fit a reversing camera !! any ideas ?

Do you mean 2 x SIM cards or a dual SIM card phone? Orange used to do offer 2 SIM cards on request.

Anyway, older Bentleys are not alone in this problem as I have 2014 Conti GT Speed and that has phone recognition problems, too. Dealer has had it back twice and says it is becuase I use an Overseas Phone service and a Black Berry.

Not related but the SatNav in the Conti is crap compared with the older none touch screen version in the Mulsanne.
