2006 Continental GT Coupe.
As per the topic name, I took the spare wheel out today and the well has got about an inch/inch and a half of water laying in there.
Any ideas how this water gets there? The boot carpet is bone dry and the seals around the boot lid look fine.

My apologies. The title should read "Water in SPARE wheel carrier"
Damn you, autocorrect!

Hi Goddo.

This might be of assistance to you; https://www.6speedonline.com/forums/bentley/382626...

Bit of a common problem it seems.

Les.

Hi Les, thanks for your help.
I will take the boot lid lining out and see if the tubes are properly connected.
I have already blown some low pressure air down the drains but that doesn't help
if the tube is disconnected! redface

Well, I stripped out the boot lining and both spoiler drain tubes are intact. When I poured water into the spoiler rebate, it ran easily through the tubes
and out of the ducts at the base of the boot lid.
I then poured water into the fuel filler cap recess and the water flowed properly through the tube and out underneath the rear of the car.
So, my problem is that all drain tubes are working properly and the rubber seal around the boot lid aperture appears watertight.
I don't really know which way to progress now. It has been suggested that I drill a couple of small diameter drain holes in the bottom of
the wheel well, which is only plastic. At least that way the water will not be sloshing around inside the car but that doesn't really make
for a satisfactory answer in my book. Any ideas, gents? Where can this water be coming from?

Has it had the rear window replaced ? -to fix a duff 3rd brake light ?
And ---- not properly re-sealed = water ingress

Try some "seak and seal "around the rear glass .

Assuming the spoiler to lower boot lip drains are patent and the boot rubber seal is functional .

Thanks Flammetta, that is a thought re: the rear glass.
What still puzzles me is, if the water is leaking into the boot, why is the boot carpet bone dry?
Will keep looking and report back as this appears to be a very common fault.

Rear light unit seals? No personal knowledge re the Continental but often a problem on other marques.

Is the water clean or dirty? Any sediment at the bottom?

If dirty, I'd expect water coming up. If clean, I'd expect water coming down.

A light cluster leak could probably be either.

Cheers,
Jeff.

The water is clear and there is no sediment.
It could be a light cluster. When I get some time, I'll spray some water on the back light units and then check the well.
