ipod/iphone connectivity.
Discussion
Good afternoon, I am close to picking up a new mini cooper clubman and was wondering about iPod connectivity. I have the normal Bluetooth package and have been told that this will alone an iPhone or indeed any phone to be connected for wireless hands free use as a phone, but will it also allow for Apple's airplay system so that music can be streamed to the stereo without being connected?
Any help greatly appreciated.

Far as I'm aware, basic bluetooth is phone only. I've basic BT with HK stereo and an iPod will not pair by BT on mine, nor play through the standard cable (a message about not compatible with this cable is shown - I believe there is a Y cable available via the dealers) but it will charge OK and plays back quite well through the AuxIn port. I adjusted the AuxIn volume level from 1 to 3 and now there's some good poke to the sound. Obviously control is only via the player, and there are two wires trailing out the dash, so I usually just copy my current favourite albums onto a mini USB stick and playback via that; it's more discrete and has dash/thumb controls.
Hope that's useful info for you.
Edit: P.S. the phone sync to my boggo Vodafone 351 was easy. Paired in under a minute without a manual in sight, and now the phone prompts me to reconnect whenever I start the car. I just press Yes and bingo the phone is working through the car hands-free.

Picking it up tomorrow, the y cable will apparently not work even with the adapter for an iphone 5 as output is digital and ice can only receive an analogue signal. Apparently mini are working on a solution, until then the wife is unhappy as talked her into an iPhone due to ease of use!
Saw the car yesterday looks lovely but the northern in me wishes we had gone for the purple roof instead of silver. Looks better with silver but the purple was quite an expensive option an would of had better value for money if the roof was the colour as well!!
