Recently purchased a 2014 Mini Cooper S on 17" wheels and I was lead to believe that from the factory these cars were not on RFT unless selected on the options list?

Tyre size is 205/45/17, reason for asking is local dealer has refused to remove RFT for Michelin PSS/PS4 tyres. Reality is I think they are wrong and it'll mean the car will go to an alternate dealer at this rate.

I was lead to believe that cars on 18" were the only ones that came with RFT by default.

Car rides really bad on RFT

Bit late, but yes, RFT were a cost option, our car came on Michelin Primacy's not PS's though, I've also seen Dunlops. Don't understand why the dealer should remove them though if they are on a secondhand car? If the car has a jack in the toolkit it left the factory on runflats, if it has goo, pump & no jack, it came on standard tyres so I believe

Thanks for the reply.

My thoughts too. It's a AUC car, so came what it came with, the issue I had was I asked my local dealer to swap them to proper tyres and they refused unless on RFT, even though I said car didn't come on RFT. Mentioned warranty issues.

So I've asked Mini UK to confirm warranty situation in writing and correct my local dealership. I've also asked them to confirm in writing that breakdown cover covers non RFT tyres.

In the mean time I'm going to be fitting Michelin PSS/PS4 tyres sooner than later on it, probably PS4 as my wife is driving it and I want better wet grip for her.

Car is at the dealer on Monday to address rattles, so will re ask then.

Just re-reading my reply & missed out that our car (also MINI approved) came on non-RFT Michelin Primacy 3's, car only had 3k on the clock. Do your tyres have the BMW/MINI approved star marking?

Rears do I think as they're Michelin primary, the dealer put hankook on the fronts though as part of AUC!

I have Michelin SS (previous non RFT Michelin Primacy) on my '15 MCS... I personally dont see how they can invalidate warranty on anything apart from the tyres (which are dispoable items anyhow).. I also have a set of wheels with Continental Winter tyres (non RFT)...

I would just go down to a tyre supplier and just get them fitted if your dealer is refusing to fit them.

Just be aware to get the tyre foam/compressor kit

PS I have had previous BMW's and changed to non RFT tyres and have had no warranty issues when car has been in for work.

That's my plan smile

Just a shame the dealers do answer correctly or answer in their interest.

Already have the foam kit.

I run PSS on mine. Going by other threads on here, the PS4 aren't as high performance as the PSS. The PS4S were introduced as the successor the PSS however they aren't yet available in the sizes we need on the F56.
