Shopping around for a mini whilst I'm selling my car - thought long and hard and thought I wanted a coupe jcw. Having spent some time in one - I don't.

What I do want is a JCW car, up to £16k but with the exhaust or similar from a £20k challenge 210.
Do the Jcw hatches in my budget have that option?

The challenge 210 is an f56 car your talking about an exhaust for an r58. So your wanting an active exhaust? Remus do them for the older cars.

I have the jcw pro exhaust on my f56 jcw that's the same as the challenge system

that Remus system looks nice, and its not as expensive as i expected it to be. thanks for that.
i'm firm on the hatch shape but the challenge cars do look a bit "cooler" than the others in the range. i don't want to up my spend if i can help it - the GP2 cars are still slightly our of reach so i'm hoping i can find a happy medium with a JCW car and a few subtle tweeks.

The jcw exhaust is about 1800 inc remap to 210bhp 1300 without but a jb4 ecu will get you 280+ for less than 500

I will need to look at the jb4 Ecu - I'm coming from an e46 m3 so I need a smaller drop in power (280 would be very nice).

Lovely looking car. I do like the GP style wheels.

It has to be a proper works car. They've got all the bits I want.

Recaros, the suede finished dash, the JCW badges smile, the brakes and the basic tuning. i can go through the stages easier from there i think - unless i'm wrong.

i've based all my research so far on the JCW only rather than the cooper S. so i need to do some more reading.

Lohen are too far away from me to use as my tuner but 1320 mini aren't too far away but i've read very mixed reviews of them. manic mini seem to be the tune that most people like but im open to suggestions.

I do. I like the look and the exhaust but know it's not at the top of the range in terms of power.

Yeah, it's all got a bit confused. Not helped by the fact I'm still not fully understanding the generation codes.

Basically,

I wanted a jcw coupe - had one for a couple of days, didn't like it. Don't want one anymore.

Then I found the challenge 210 - £20k is more than I want to spend but I like the exhaust and styling.

So I think that leaves me looking for a jcw hatch at around £16k. Not sure if that the f56 or not.

Jcw at 16k expensive r56 cheap f56 personally I'm bias but the f56 is a much nicer car that's the 2014+ cars with the 2liter engine like mine

Thank you.

Now I know what I actually want.

Just need to factor a jb4 ecu in a couple of months down the line.

So, other than minitorque (which wasn't that informative) what other places should I be doing my research?

I've a friend with a massive spec F56 Cooper S (with JCW aero kit) & with a Remus switchable exhaust & remap it's running circa 300bhp. Lohen as Manic remap specialists with a rolling road are one of the leaders in the aftermarket - the Remus exhaust is as good as the factory one apparently with plenty of noise when you want it thumbup

I would suggest that £16k would be more than enough for a mk2(r56) JCW, I own a challenge 210 and personally wouldn't go near another F56 unless walking wasn't an option.

Up your budget slightly and you can pick up a nice GP2 like this one...
